McCarthy Is OUT! What’s Next?

In a surprise turn of events, Kevin McCarthy was voted out of position as Speaker Of The House on Tuesday.
Representative Matt Gaetz made good on his promise by holding Kevin McCarthy accountable. The last straw that led to the ousting of McCarthy was the recent voting for another omnibus bill that included yet more funding for Ukraine.
Gaetz spoke before the House Tuesday, clarifying his reasons for voting McCarthy out, citing fiscal sanity. He gave a very concise, passionate rebuttal to some Republicans who considered removing McCarthy would bring “chaos to the country and to the house.”

In an interview today with Sebastian Gorka, he shared his concerns regarding Congress’s fiscal responsibility to the American people. Gorka asked Gaetz whether there was any plan, which Gaetz confirmed saying step one of his plan was successful. Several Republicans, including Newt Gingrich, mocked this, while others called for Gaetz’s removal from the Republican party. Step one according to Gaetz, was removing McCarthy as Speaker.  

In the meantime, Rep. Patrick McHenry is the pro-tem Speaker until a new House Speaker is voted on. Currently, several are being looked at for the position, which includes Jim Jordan, who has officially announced his running for the position, Steve Scalise, and former President Donald Trump.
