Jussie Smollett MAGA Case: Cook County State’s Attorney Recuses Herself

The State’s Attorney for Cook County has mysteriously withdrawn herself from the Jussie Smollett “MAGA country” case without any indication of why. Kim Foxx recused herself on Tuesday and will be replaced by First Assistant State’s Attorney, Joseph Magats.

Foxx’s recusal came just after Chicago PD rejected a tip about Smollett being seen in an elevator with the two brothers who are alleged to have attacked him. A few days prior to this, Chicago PD said that Smollett was “no longer considered a victim in their investigation.

Smollett, an openly gay, black man alleged on January 29th he was attacked by two men, who assaulted him, hurled racial and homophobic abuse at him, poured a chemical substance on him, put a noose around his neck, and then shouted: “This is MAGA country!”
