Fox News report that a complaint has been filed with the Intelligence Community Inspector General (ICIG) that claims that the whistleblower whose allegations launched the Democrats’ impeachment push may have themself violated federal law by soliciting more than a quarter-million dollars via a GoFundMe page.
The complaint filed last week alleges that the donations from around 6,000 people “clearly constitute” gifts to a current intelligence official that may be restricted because of the employee’s official position. To date, the GoFundMe campaign has raised over $227,000.
Interestingly, the complaint also brings up the possibility that some donations may have come from either foreign citizens, agents or governments.
For a long time, we heard nothing but the possibility of President Trump, Russia, and possible collusion — claims that were shown to be entirely unfounded. Let’s hope the Democrats are just as zealous pursuing this new complaint as they were the first. Their response will be VERY telling.
