What Is More Valuable Speaking In Tongues or Prophecy?

Published

on

We hardly ever talk about this, but we have to talk about it at some point – the supernatural. Miracles, healing, demons, the whole shebang, and we will be talking about all of it today.

We’re talking about the gift of faith and how it’s something you will often see when it comes to health. Someone may get a cancer diagnosis, but they know they will survive because of their faith. All this and more on today’s broadcast!

Episode Transcript

Lance: We hardly ever talk about this stuff, but we have to talk about it at some point. The supernatural. I’m talking about miracles, healings, demons, the whole shebang. We’re going to be talking about that in this episode and you don’t want to miss it.

Alright, what do you want to say?

Mercedes: Well, I wanted to say, I think a lot of times in the gift of faith, I see exercise a lot when there’s illness. Like if there’s a cancer diagnosis or some sort of diagnosis. All of a sudden, it’s like that person just receives a download of from heaven. It doesn’t matter what the doctors say, doesn’t matter what’s going on, they know they’re going to live, they know they’re going to survive. Like I see it a lot operating there, but you’re right. I mean, what’s neat about these gifts is they don’t just operate in the church. Even the prophetic, even a word of knowledge and then it happens like you said with your friend.

I mean they operate in the business realm they operate outside of the church and are really designed to, right. Because they’re spiritual gifts, but they provide signs. Signs to what? Jesus Christ to say, he’s a real, he’s a living God, he does these things.

Lance: That’s interesting, and we so often think of this is only in church that it becomes really goofy. Because everybody thinks about a word of knowledge where and it’s always modeled off of a meeting in church. So, people repeat what it. It’s always a healing or it’s always a prediction about your future many times it isn’t working. Carl?

Carl: one thing that I found in Blue Letter Bible is different, I guess extrapolations from first Corinthians 12. And one of the things in first Corinthians 14 apostle Paul says. “If any speak in a tongue let there be only 1 or 2 at most 3 and each in turn and let someone interpret it.” And then it goes on to say that each of these interpretations should be from the perspective of the church context, not an individual context. So, I just want to throw that out there.

Lance: Alright, so we’re you’re talking about in speaking in tongues, but let there be there again we have in the first century church. It has so many people doing stuff, he had to say, hey, just 3,not 5 not 7.

Carl: Right. But each one needs to have an interpreter and it should just be the one interpreter who’s interpreting on behalf of God from that person’s mouth to God‘s ears.

Mercedes: Go ahead.

Lance: Well, what he’s saying is and let there be an interpretation, and then he goes on to say,and then he that prays in another tongue pray that he also may interpret, so that you can both speak out the message in the unknown tongue and interpret the message. But you’re getting a little bit ahead of me here. Because I want to get to that gift in a second but you’re right. There’rethe diversities.

Mercedes: Because I think also there’s a distinction between a public giving of an unknown tongue of yours, you’re the Lord you’re in church. And you’re right these days it’s really rare that this stuff happens but I’ve been there when you’re in a public church service somebody gets a tongue and they get for the pastor, the deacon, or whoever. They go up there and they give it and then all of a sudden somebody else in the back of the church gets an interpretation. And they say, thus says the Lord. I mean, it’s the wildest thing but I think that there’s a distinction between your personal prayer language that I might pray in my prayer closet around my house for my own building up and edification versus in a public context. Is that correct?

Lance: Yes, and so this is where I want to go with this, which is Discerning the measure of authority for what you’re doing. Because it says here, “To another faith by the same spirit to another gifts of healings by the same spirit. Some people for instance will have a healing for palsy or for paralysis. Philip evidently had a remarkable healing gift and it was listed that people with palsies were being healed. Some people have faith for backs. I mean this is really interesting and exciting. You don’t have to have like a raise the dead go to critical care unit and raise one off. Just start with the two teeth.

You might have something regarding the mouth or it might be with blood disorders. There are, be interesting if we could all finally decode what gives people having a church because it’d be like, hey, you need to go over sister so and so. For instance, I had a friend of mine that whenever they prayed for someone, they got filled with the spirit.

Mercedes: Wow.

Lance: It was hit and miss with other people but with that person, go to sister so and so. Boom. They got it. They got it. They is amazing and that kind of that’s discerning the body makes you think. Paul says, “For this reason many are sick and many are dead, having not discern the body.” Meaning when we don’t accurately discern the gifts that are in the body we go without because that person isn’t being discerned.

Mercedes: I think this is so crucial and I know this may not even be what we wanted to talk what you wanted to do on the board today. Which I’m sure is awesome too, but I like where Holy Spirit’s taking this. Because to your point how many people are listening in the broadcast right now and have been taught like I was. I was raised Presbyterian. These spiritual gifts have passed away. They don’t operate anymore. When scripture was completed, those stopped and unfortunately, it’s such a deception because I’ve literally seen people healed. At this stage in my life, like if you’re not a part of a charismatic or Pentecostal church which has its own eccentricities. But those are operating there because they have the faith to believe for it. They believe these things still exist. A large segment of the body of Christ does not believe that these even operate anymore.

Lance: And look how the devil just rips us off because you don’t believe, it’s amazing. You could believe for a one-world currency, for a one-world government. We got more faith for the devil’s success that we have for the church.

Mercedes: Yeah.

Lance: But let me just get this, go through this list here because gifts of heal. I just want you to know that there are different gifts plural. You might have a gift for praying for people’s legs to lengthen and that people make fun of that I know because people legs are often this chiropractically, they could be off and get an adjustment and adjust. But there’s I saw scoliosis healed a year ago. Scoliosis, it was a permanent leg differential that was healed at a business booth at a business seminar. But the girl sat down and she was getting prayed for her leg shot out and her back, her spine was affected by that is the point.

Mercedes: Yeah.

Lance: It wasn’t just one of those oh your legs are always a little up it was like a spinal thing, but this idea that to another the working of miracles. Now here’s a great thing I learned from Robert’s learning. What’s the difference between healings and miracles? Well, the healing is gradual. When you pray for somebody and they’re getting their cancers healed, that means that gradually and progressively over the next couple of days you’re going to find yourself feeling better and better and better because the healing started and now it’s just expanding. It’s like our Let Us Grow thee you’ve got in the back. Which is like let us grow by the way guys want to grab your, let us grow.

Carl: Lancewallnau.com.

Lance: Lancewallnau.com/ what?

Mercedes: Garden.

Lance: Garden?

Mercedes: Yeah.

Lance: Because we plant these things in the office and they just grow and it’s right inside the office. Healing is like that. You plant the healing and the healing grows right there and nourishes you. A miracle is an instantaneous thing but notice the word Working. Most American ministers don’t have miracles. Because of the working part. The working. When you see Paul in the Bible grabbing someone by their hand and pulling them to their feet. Boom. That’s the working part. The working is when you’re working with the miracle.

Number one reason why we don’t do working miracles is because of lawsuits. You don’t see people pulling people out of wheelchairs. You don’t see people doing like Smith Wigglesworth whereas a woman who had the tumor and he just went up and hit the tumor and in Jesus’ name.He commanded that devil to leave and the tumor flattened out. Yeah. Because you get sued. But I went to Moses, I went to Sierra Leone, Africa and I practiced the working of miracles because I knew I couldn’t get sued in Sierra Leone. I went out into the jungle and I did a it was a healing ministry.

I was with Heidi Baker and she was preaching and I had a lady that came up to me who was bent over and crippled, crippling arthritis in her arms or back crippled over like bent over like shrimp like rolled up and blind in one eye. I remember the working of miracles. I was praying for that and I went over to her and prayed and just a gift of faith and working of miracles will work together. Gifts combined and I suddenly got faith that she could be healed. I picked her up in my arms and squeezed her and I heard crack, crack, crack all over her body and I put her back down and she was straightened up and then she pointed to her eye. It was the weirdest thing. It’s like, okay, that’s good. Now, do this one.

So, I put my hand in the name of Jesus. I come in his eyes and see boom. I said, I’m put my fingers up and she can read them and then she walked away. I thought if that had been me I would have been screaming, but she just walked away very happy smile thank you thank you she took off. I thought I got more excited than she did because I couldn’t get sued I was doing the working of miracles in Africa. Grab that crinkling crank, crank, crank and the body was healed. But I’d watch Jack Cole and I watch AA Allen, those guys did those kinds of miracles. But nowadays you can’t do them.

Now what we got is touch and go. Line them up and that’s what I do now in America. Go to California. Let hand on the head, hand on the head, fall down, get up and you believe that you got it because it’s not the working of miracles. It has to be a healing. The only exception to the working of miracles that I would say is Jesus told his disciples. They said, “Master, we found somebody casting out demons in your name and we forbid them. And Jesus said, “Do not forbid them. For no man do it a miracle in my name and lately will speak evil of me. Jesus linked casting demons out with the miracle ministry and now this is an interesting thing.

One of the workings of miracles is when you cast a demon out frequently the physical infirmity or affliction that was attached to the demon goes when the demon goes. So, suddenly the healing begins or the miracle happens, because the demon that was there is broken off of them. So, you could be casting out if it the Lord tells you it’s a deaf spirit versus an accident that happened. When they were eight years old, you might command the deaf and dumb spirit come out in Jesus’ name and when the demon leaves, the person can hear. Because the miracle and the deliverance and the healing are all linked together. I know this sounds crazy folks but listen, like I said, I can get crazy when I have to.

Mercedes: Do you think the working of miracles could also be, I mean, to your point with the demonic, the idea that you should be praying and fasting, and that there’s only certain demons that respond or ailments that respond if you’re living prayed up and fasted up?

Lance: Well, honestly, Jesus said, this kind goeth not out, but by prayer and fasting. That means that most other kinds will go out without you praying and fasting because it’s being done by faith by grace not by works. So, I would say, you have a track record of a whole lot of demons and healings and miracles happening without the fasting and prayer part. But for certain types and that was an epileptic spirit. That one required fasting and prayer and the interesting thing is Jesus evidently had been fasted and prayed up. The boss was ready because he cast the spirit out when the disciples couldn’t.

Mercedes: Definitely, and I want to give you an out on the fact that you said you don’t work miracles anymore because you don’t want to be sued. So, you’re still working miracles, right?

Lance: I’m still working miracles people but you got to give me permission to sign a wave if you want me to crack your body. Unless it’s a chiropractic.

Lance: I think more is coming. I think you’re going to do more and more and I think this is such a vital topic and I just made me think of Joel 2:228 where it’s the outpouring of the spirit which is I think the days that work be moving into here and it says, then your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams and your young men will see visions even on your men’s servants and your maid servants. In those days, I will pour out my spirit. So, when we come back to prophecy which is where we started, there’s this outpouring of the spirit that’s coming. I think we should be expectant that I don’t think prophesying is really meant for just a select few, like oh prophet so and so or prophet do to do. Whatever their name is that clearly Paul writes in Corinthians. The idea, I mean, it always blows my mind because the charismatic church is so set on everybody speaking in tongues.

I don’t know if you’ve ever gone to a church like that, really. You got to speak in tongues. If you don’t speak in tongues, are you in filled with the Holy Ghost?

Lance: Right.

Mercedes: Like they’re so adamant about it but Paul says, hey, hey, hey, I desire that you would prophesy before you would speak in tongues. I would rather speak in 5 clear words than prophesy essentially gobbly good where it means nothing to the outsider who comes in. Like we you should be prophesying and speaking edification and building up. He says, in 14:3, “But he who prophesied speaks to men for their edification and exhortation and comfort And so, I think we should be talk about.

Lance: Right. Okay so we should be talking about, we’re going to go to our next episode. We’re going to talk about prophecy and the levels of prophecy because that’s where I wanted to go anyway. I started with Kim Clement, but I mean I want you to understand it’s a lot of us are going to be moving the prophetic in the last days because Joel’s prophecy is your sons and daughters are going to, you know what is it? Old men with dreams, dreams, young men will have vision and on your handmaidens and on your servants those days, well I poured out my spirit. And it’s a prophetic movement. So, Carl I saw your hand a minute ago. I want to go back over these. I don’t want to miss it.

But I want to, Carl traveled with an evangelist named Bob Bradbury and Bob and typically prophets will move in words to knowledge, discerning of spirit gifts of prophecy. Gifts cluster together. Evangelists frequently have gifts of faith, gifts of healings, and working of miracles. It’s rare that they fuse together although they do. William Branham had that which was a healing prophet gift which is Kenneth Hagan would do prophet healing. But usually the gifts cluster around the calling. So, Carl, I want to ask you this question. You could add whatever you want.

Bob Bradbury, is a missionary like the Paraguay. God will give you geography also and he’ll give you a people group. It’s important to discern that stuff because part of where ministries missesespecially the prophetic is they don’t know their Metronome. They think that because they’re a prophet in one place that they’re a prophet everywhere. The truth is God gives you, maybe aren’t going to prophesy global events. Maybe not even national political events. Even though you’re a prophet, the pressure is on what do you think Trump’s going to get elected. Because people throw it at you be secure in saying here’s my measure here’s where I prophesy, I prophesy in this niche or in this specificity. Because God has prophets in the church that are for the church not for the government.

God has prophets in business and they can literally tell you what’s going to happen, but they’re not called to do the church. So, it’s important we got to start maturing and understanding that there’s to this and you don’t have to feel like you got to be a cookie cutter to fit someone else. Bob Bradbury, I believe, I saw it, had gifts of faith, working of miracles. Would you say that’s true, Carl?

Carl: I would. I would say that. I think it’s also worth discussing in first Corinthians 12:10. This is the New Living Translation, but it goes into the different people that get these gifts and so I was hoping that we could talk about that a little bit. The Bible says, He gives one person the power to perform miracles and to another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to know whether it is really the spirit of God or another spirit that is speaking. Still another person is given the ability to speak in an unknown language and another is given the ability to interpret what is being said.

So, it sounds to me like these gifts aren’t just given out willynilly. They’re given specifically to different individuals and it’s not like we can just claim these gifts. It’s not like party favors. It’s more like it’s actually something that’s received. So, I’m curious what your thoughts are.

Lance: Yeah, read verse 11.

Carl: Sure, I have to go to a different website real fast.

Lance: I’ll read it in King James while you’re looking for it.

Carl:It is the one and only spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

Lance: Exactly. So, King James says, “Distributing to each one individually as he wills.

Carl: Yes.

Lance: So, there’s a sense which each one by my analysis should have a gift, and he could distribute as he wills. Everyone will have at least one, but there’ll be those that will have the clusters. So, when you start moving with a cluster of gifts, you’ll find that especially when you go into the offices or once again gifts are given based on calling, right.

Carl: Sure.

Lance: So, if you’re apostle the signs of an apostle were rod among you, so you’ll see the apostles are moving in healings and miracles and gifts of faith consistently. But they’re all moving with discerning the spirits because they can discern when somebody’s right or wrong or if the devil’s doing something. And so, you start to see that the offices will probably have a greater investment of a cluster of giftings because of the assignment that is there.

Mercedes: And I think too I mean you can look at the apostles. Because I was just reading Acts today and I was thinking about Peter where he gets the word of knowledge that the two people were lying about I forget their name.

Lance: Ananias and Sapphira.

Mercedes: Ananias and Sapphira. So, he has a word of knowledge yet he also walks by and his shadow is healing people. I mean there’s this the working of miracles right there. So, you can have, I think you can definitely get both or multiple ones. I do think you probably have a primary, that like I primarily probably operate in the prophetic, and I used to think it was my intuition. So, like I would like note things might happen before they do or just like, oh yeah, I’m just kind of really lucky. But it’s really intuition and I remember I got my degrees in biblical studies and I remember being in Bible College and the guy, the teacher, Doctor Copen actually. He was reading through this passage and he started to describe the prophetic. I’m like, that’s what I have but I had been raised at those things passed away. So, I had this big aha. I had always called it my intuition. I was like, I’m prophetic.

Lance: By the way, I want to drop back over here to Romans chapter 12. Interesting Paul once again who wrote Corinthians says in verse 5. So, we being many, this is Romans chapter 12 verse 5 interested in your translation Carl, and it adds anything to it. We being many are one body in Christ an individual members one of another. Interesting, we’re actually connected to each other having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us. Let us use them and now it starts off with if Prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith. So, now we have a kind of a caveat there and that is it’s possible to pick up on something and we and this is why in first Thessalonians, Paul admonishes in the 5th chapter. “Do not despise prophecy”. Because if somebody’s not operating in proportion to their faith and you’ve seen it happen. You can get prophecy that you’re going to before the year is over, you’re going to have a child or before theyear is over, God is going to put Trump back in. You watch.

See, a prophet can be prophesying beyond the measure of faith that God gave. Therefore, they don’t have the authority for what’s being said but they’re picking up on something and it could be you have another child coming. I don’t know when. They don’t want to say I don’t know when so they add to it what their soul throws in. It could be that and it all happens to us. And this is why Paul says, don’t despise prophecy. Because it’s the ones that miss that the devil will throw in your face when there’s one you’re holding on to that is precious. And the devils like he’s such a brilliant legalist. He’ll say, yeah what about this? Remember they told you that?

Now the same prophetic ministry could be totally right on. And then miss it on something else because the prophet the spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet. Meaning the Prophet has to know, am I in the measure of faith that God assigned to me and it’s and it’s a real battle for prophets because listen, it’s easier for them to not risk it. That’s why the generic prophets, the prophets are just, look at my hair sticking up here. The reason why some prophets who just prophesy generally, it’s like TBN has a prophecy. They used to play. It was hilarious actually. I shouldn’t call them out but they had one from Kim Clement while he was alive.

He prophesied, but the fires that are raging in California right now. The Lord says, it was a powerful prophecy but it was from the fires that were raging like five years earlier. But they bring it up because it was a great Kim Clement prophecy. And whenever there’s a fire, listen here’s trust me on the weather patterns it’s going to be hot and it’s going to be cold and there’s going to be floods and there’s going to be fires. You can almost put those prophecies out there every year what you want to really do is say specifically where that’s happening that’s never happened. But that would be a prophecy worth.

Mercedes: Or when or like the name of the storm. I mean it’s, that’s where I don’t know, I really want to talk about this because and we have to give a whole episode to it. Because you’ve got some key points here to say this is really how prophets prophesy and really the lens that they’re looking through that I think it’s vital to talk about, because I have a lot of questions I want to ask you about it.

Lance: I’m going to go there. And I want to go there in this next episode because I want to show you something which Carl was good enough to put on the board for me here. There are four timelines a prophet is looking at and we’re going to cover that. There’s possibly the timeline therein. The timeline of the future events coming. The timeline of the millennium or beyond.

I’m going to show you in the Bible where the same prophet would dip into the river in 4 different time zones in 5 or 6 verses. Confusing the daylights out of Jewish people because one prophecy would be talking about right now. The next was talking about Christ. The next was talking about the millennium and you can look back on it and say, aha, this is a great prophecy predicting Jesus. At that time, people were confused because they didn’t know he’s talking about 500 years from now. They thought he was talking about them. So, we’re going to take a look at that because I think it’ll clarify something for everyone. Next episode, don’t miss it.
