Wanda Alger shares how she believes that the spiritual battle we fight in the heavenlies over the nations of the earth is not a contest of powers, but a contending for authority. She also explains how illegitimate power despises legitimate authority.
As our president faces ongoing threats and attacks from his opponents, we can be assured that his assignment will not fail if we understand the superiority of legitimate authority. If he truly carries a mandate from heaven as many believe, the authority granted to him from the throne will succeed, regardless of the demonic dissension. Ultimately, I believe the battle in the heavenlies over the nations of the earth is not a contest of powers, but a contending for authority.
In these days when the wheat and the tares are growing together and evil is continuing to rise, it is not those who exert the most power that will determine the outcome, but those who have been given the greater authority.
Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of Your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness. (Psalms 45:6)
It is only God who can give authority to those He appoints on the earth to accomplish heaven’s purposes: “For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.” (Romans 13:1 ESV) The devil knows who has been given legitimate authority from the throne. It is only those who have been given the scepter of His kingdom that have the right to rule from heaven to earth.
The Lord says to my lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.” The Lord will extend your mighty scepter from Zion, saying, “Rule in the midst of your enemies!” (Psalms 110:1-2)
