Trump’s Counterstrike: ANTIFA Named Terror Group—Funding Trail Now Under Investigation

After years of violent clashes and targeted attacks on law enforcement, independent journalists, and federal facilities, President Donald Trump has taken decisive action. Last month, on September 22nd, 2025, he officially designated ANTIFA as a domestic terrorist organization and signed an executive order, citing a growing pattern of organized violence across multiple states. The executive order directs federal agencies to coordinate investigations, enforcement, and financial tracking against the group and its affiliates.

Although ANTIFA’s roots stretch back decades, the last five years have seen the group emerge as a driving force behind some of America’s most destructive protests. The federal designation signals a turning point, as the White House now mobilizes multiple agencies to dismantle what it calls “organized anarchy” operating within U.S. borders.

Federal Standoff in Portland and Chicago

In recent weeks, ANTIFA-linked demonstrators have harassed and attacked ICE agents at facilities in both Portland and Chicago. President Trump sought to deploy National Guard units to restore order and ensure the safety of federal personnel, but governors from both states—along with their mayors—refused to authorize the support.

Over the weekend, a federal judge in Oregon blocked Trump’s order to deploy the National Guard. But a workaround was quickly devised: the California segment of the National Guard was sent in instead, providing reinforcement for ICE agents who had been working under dangerous conditions.

The move underscored the administration’s determination to protect federal officials even amid growing resistance from state leaders.

Journalists Targeted for Reporting the Truth

Independent journalists documenting the escalating unrest have found themselves increasingly under attack. In Portland, reporters and photojournalists have faced physical assaults from ANTIFA members while attempting to film outside ICE facilities—often with little to no police protection.

Late last week, independent journalist Nick Sortor was attacked while walking down a Portland street. When he attempted to defend himself, he was arrested by a Portland police officer. Sortor later shared during an interview with Real America’s Voice that he was held in a police cruiser for nearly an hour as officers tried to determine “what to charge him with.”

After his release, Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon took up the case.

Within days, Oregon’s Attorney General announced that the charges against Sortor would be dropped. The Multnomah County District Attorney’s office declined to prosecute following Sortor’s attorney’s demand for discovery into possible coordination between Portland Police and ANTIFA.

“Following our demand for discovery related to the @PortlandPolice’s coordination with Antifa, the Multnomah County DA has announced they will DECLINE to prosecute me.”

Another independent journalist, Katie Daviscourt, who has been investigating ANTIFA’s repeated attacks on ICE agents and federal facilities for the past four months, was brutally assaulted in Portland last week. After she chased down her assailant and brought them to a police officer’s attention, the suspect was released on the spot. Daviscourt later shared her story with Fox News, describing the lack of accountability and the growing sense of danger for those trying to report the truth.

Allegations of Police Complicity

Reports have surfaced suggesting that the Portland Police may be cooperating with ANTIFA members to avoid ICE enforcement actions. A video shared by eyewitness Ben Bergquam appears to show local law enforcement assisting ANTIFA in evading arrest.

These allegations, if proven true, would raise serious questions about the integrity of local authorities and the extent of ANTIFA’s influence within certain jurisdictions.

State Resistance and Federal Resolve

Not all governors are opposed. Over the weekend, Texas Governor Greg Abbott publicly rebuked Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker’s call to withhold cooperation with the Trump administration.

“I fully authorized the President to call up 400 members of the Texas National Guard to ensure safety for federal officials.”

The sharp divide between cooperating and resistant states reflects a broader national conflict—one that pits federal enforcement of law and order against local political agendas.

“Follow the Money”: Unmasking ANTIFA’s Funders

In a significant development today, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that his department is now working alongside the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and the intelligence community to trace the funding sources behind ANTIFA and other left-wing extremist groups.

“The federal government has never really been mobilized or tasked with doing that. So we’re kind of kick-starting that into gear.”

President Trump echoed that sentiment, pledging full transparency in exposing the networks supporting domestic terrorism.

“We will continue to get to the bottom of who is funding these organizations in this organized anarchy against our country and our government. It’s a question the American people have been begging the answer for, for many years—and we’re committed to uncovering it.”

A Nation at a Crossroads

From state resistance to street-level intimidation, the battle over ANTIFA’s reach and accountability is revealing deep fault lines within America’s political and civic institutions. For many, the designation of ANTIFA as a terrorist group marks not just a policy shift—but a reckoning.

The federal government’s actions in the coming weeks could determine whether the United States regains control over its streets and secures justice for those targeted by political violence—or whether the chaos continues unchecked.
