The Surprising Secret to Finding Your Divine Purpose in Life

Lance: I think I’m going to do something I did last night. I didn’t do it this morning. I want to do it briefly, because I don’t want you to miss the significance of the moment, we’re in historically. Every now and then, I see a movie scene or a movie clip and it’s one of those clips where it’s anointed. It’s a weird thing how it happens, but there’s something that the artist has picked up on that’s prophetic in nature. Meeting Jim Cavezel the other night who started the Passion of the Christ. How many of you saw him? Were you here for that? And I want us to begin to break and I think this is the church that I know can do this. We have to break religious mindsets. God is the God of the arts and so we could do art. We could do music. We could do business. There’s not a feel that the devil is occupying against us right now where God doesn’t have people that could rise up and displace what’s there with something better. It’s just we’re not used to thinking that way and so it’s a challenge.

Anyway, so I was watching the movie Gladiator and it was 2000. And I can remember in the theater, the scene where Maximus who is a former general with the Felix Legions of Rome who is underground because of the jealousy and the dangerousness of a new emperor who killed Marcus Aurelius, the axe his father in order to take the throne. He wanted to kill Maximus,because he was the rival to him. So, Maximus is underground as a gladiator and he’s really trying to get back to Rome to kill the communist the emperor. And so, as a scene unfolds, he is in the arena in Rome with like 12 or 13 other gladiators with him from their African school, but there’s no one they’re fighting. They’re looking around like who are we supposed to fight. And then the proctor takes his position up there as the crowds have crammed in the Colosseum of Rome and he says, “Ladies and gentlemen I bring to you the recreation of the second fall of mighty Carthage and there on the barren plains of sauna stood the invincible armies of Hannibal. Brute beast bent on merciless destruction. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Barbarian horde and he extends his hand towards Maximus”. Maximus goes, oh, okay. We’re the barbarian horde.And as a general, he knows exactly the military history what’s going to happen.

Scipio is going to bring chariots to this battle and the chariots are going to attempt to route Hannibal’s infantry. So, sure enough the proctor says, “And I present to you the armies of and he stands his hand and the gates lie open”. Now as this is happening Maximus sizes the situation up and says to the men that are with him have any of you said in the army. It always struck me it’s interesting. He plays the Spaniard, but he speaks with the New Zealand accent. That always corrects him. Have any of you served in the army? And they go oh yeah, yeah, yeah. They were all basically prisoners of military conquest. He says, good whatever comes from these gates. We have a better chance of survival if we work together. Whatever comes through those gates, we have a better chance to survive and that’s when I was in the audience going goosebumps. And that was when I knew if the rapture happened and I was in a theater, I’d still go because I felt the anointing. I always wonder, the rapture happens now, will I go?

Anyway, so, I’m sitting there, I go, whoa, that’s weird. Whatever comes to those gates and I thought gates of hell. When the gate of hell are open against our generation, when the gates of hell in government and in media, and in academia, when the gates of hell are open against us, if we stand together in unity, whatever comes to those gates, we have a better chance of survival if we work in unity. So now, I’m watching this scene with that sudden flesh of revelation going on and he says and as the chariots come bursting in, they’re all scattered but watch the strategy. It says all prophetic. He says, come together. Come together and the men all back up tentatively and cautiously into a circle. It says, come together. Closer. Closer. You see you have to come together and you have to get closer. We have to be able to have stone up against stone. We have to get the rough edges worked out of us so that we can come together and let the Holy Spirit administrate. Come together. And then look your shields.

Now this is where all the teaching of faith now makes so much more sense. I have a shield that can protect me in combat. It’s perfectly cut in the Roman military to the height of the soldier which means your faith is customized to you and your assignment. You have all the faith you need to do the thing God called you to do. But when the gates of hell are up against us. We have a different problem. Because these chariots are going to come from every direction. So, they have to form a circle in unity. That’s why he said come together, come together closer. Now lock your shields. And they formed a circle. They locked their shields.

Now my faith is protecting what I can deal with. I’m counting on your faith to be protecting that side. Because I’m not looking that way. I’m looking this way. Boom. So, the chariots now come rolling and barreling towards this defiant little group. The crowd is just waiting for the blood lust of violence to happen to the barbarian horde and they’re watching and Maximus says, “Hold, hold, hold”. And as the chariot comes to break them up like a bowling ball with pins. As it comes to impact them, he says, “Hold as one”. And when he says as one, they shout as one and they lean into their overlapping shields and it becomes a belt of steel and boom repulses the chariot. Chariot hits it and bounces off. Maximus turns to them like a good shepherd and says well done. They come back again this time with greater intensity barreling right down the middle they will break up this rebellious little union. The crowd is kind of beginning to watch the second time they’re fascinated with a little rebellion going on here.

And so, Maximus says hold, hold, hold and then he gives a command you will completely miss because this scene happens so fast. He gives the command diamond. Diamond means that you tilt the shield to intersect the wheel and you push. You thrust; you take the momentums of the judo technique. You take the momentum of the attack, and you adapt your response in such a way that you flip it over on them. This is the entire transgender movement right now. It’s reaching into the homes on Pride Month. They can’t help themselves. They’re going for the children. It’s being revealed more and more. The aggressiveness of their argument for being able to give children the right and the state has the authority to be able to interfere with the parent. They’re literally at the point now where the chariots are about to start flipping in America. Diamond.

So, as this is happening, they flip and as they flip, now the direction goes from you. Proven you can be in unity. Now, you can separate and do what you’ve got to do. Single column, single column. They separate. Maximus gets up on one of the dismounted horses and comes up behind them just like the prophets Zechariah would prophesy from behind them taking their heads off their shoulders. Just cutting it off and the crowd is on their feet. Now, they’re no longer booing a barbarian hoard. They’re cheering for it because when they broke through, something broke through in the mob. The crowd no longer had this witchcraft working on. Now, they were no longer looking at them like some kind of a slandered media scandal. They were looking at them like they were doing something admirable and unique. When I heard the word diamond, I looked it up. I said, I think there’s a revelation even in that.

I remember I was going through my spirit Bible here with this Greek in it and it says that even now, the church is on display revealing the wisdom of God under the principalities and powers in heavenly places. And it uses the word revealing the manifold wisdom of God under principalities. The church is on display and the spirit realm is watching us. It’s fascinating. Angels and the principalities are looking at us. We’re the mirror that reflects the agenda what heaven’s up to and they’re looking at the manifold wisdom of God. The word “manifold” literally in Greek means the different facets of a diamond. There’s a of God‘s wisdom that is going to show up in your part of Ohio that is going to flip the chariots where the gates of hell are concerned. But the secret is that this is a real work of God. See Gary, what you and your wife have done is you have you have built a when a real work of God is done. The Lord adds to the church.

And the difference between the Lord adding and a crowd coming is that when the Lord adds he is assembling something that he can inhabit for a purpose. So that when the when the battle comes you actually are called for this fight. And you can lock your shields in such a way that the wisdom of God will be manifest and you’ll be able to overpower whatever hell sends against you and so the secret is “as one”.

Now, would you rise to your feet? We’re going to activate the as one anointing. Now, you know what we’re going to do. I’m going to have you actually say as one. Now, this the first time I did this. Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, 2002 maybe it was. We had a supernatural encounter. I have for the first time I played the little movie scene. I got the movie clip. I had an academy award director/editor put it together for me and he just gave it to me and so I played the clip and I went out and I said, let’s just do as one. So, I had to put the right hand up. I said, bring it down together and say as one and we went as one. And when we came down and said as one, the angelic ground shouted as one right on top of it and it freaked out the whole conference. It was the first voice of the apostle’s conference with Bill Johnson, Heidi Baker, Randy Clark, and Harrisburg. The very first one and the angels went as one and it never happened again.

I’ve done this hundreds of times, but the first time it showed me, your unity is aligned with the unity there. Whatever you bind is bound and when you line up in this battle, David, when David went forth, he was told, don’t go till you hear the sound of the going in the mulberry trees.Meaning, don’t move until the angelic armies of heaven have demonstrated that they’re in the initiative that. In other words, when the armies of heaven move, that’s when you move, we’removing with God‘s redemptive plan for America right now. Would you like to activate your maximus anointing? You need to operate at your maximus anointing. Put your right hand up in the air. We’re going to do this. Let me see if we can do this right the first time. Normally, I have to do this twice. I’ll tell you why because the average person doesn’t really give a 100% of themselves because they’re afraid they’ll sound too zealous.

So, they go, “as one”. That’s kind of loud and they go halfway. It’s like as one. Then I make them do it twice but I’m going to tell you the secret. The secret is to reach up like it’s a prophetic act. And you don’t bring down your hand halfway on your enemy. You thoroughly go through. And you do it in unity. So, it’s more like as one. And you do it quick like that. As opposed to the paparazzi “as one”. You never get the resolution of it. So, it’s going to be as one. On the count of three, are you ready? Yes. Alright, hands out of your pocket. Nope. Casual gladiators. I always like this gladiator “as one”. Okay. Alright. Preacher, very good. I like that one. Hey, it was a good one. Alright. Ready?

Father, I pray. Whatever hell sends through the gates in Ohio and in America. These people can lock their shields and they can demonstrate your glory and break the spell off the masses. In the name of Jesus, in the count of three, as one. One, two, three. “As one”. Did you feel that? Did you feel that? Wow. That’s powerful. I felt that one. There’s some devil over there that’s went,boom, what was that? What the heck was that? alright, you may be seated wonder what’s going on with those campus locations I just realized that we got it out there how was that you guys enjoy that. I said, alright.

Lance: So, I want to talk to you. I want to bring you into what I said last night and this morning because I don’t repeat the I never give the same message twice which is why I always tell you can erase the whiteboard, because I don’t know what I’m going to put on it yet. So, but the one thing I do want I felt impressed to talk about. Did I give you a verse yet? Oh good. Then let’s go to Acts. Pastor Drendon. I enjoyed doing our podcast yesterday. That was a great deal of fun. I want to get a copy of that so I could broadcast it. I’ll put it out on my station. Alright, so I want you to the Book of Acts. I want to talk to you about the power of this idea of convergence. Convergence is a course that I did a master’s degree training. I did with Bobby Clinton. I taught it at a college. And Bobby Clinton is a researcher in the field of destiny. But he didn’t do it as a preacher. He did it as a statistician because he had full of theological seminar. He had Rick Warren. He had John Maxwell.

He had all these students that he was studying on patterns for students that came through to do exploits later on in life. And so, his field is convergence theory or leadership emergence theory is what he calls it and it is what are the characteristics of individuals who actually step into doing the thing that God created them to do. In other words, many people have successful careers, they live their lives, but did they do the thing that God created them to do. Because you were created with a certain purpose in mind. And so, the idea is, he said there, he found these statistical stages. He noticed that in all convergence stories, there’s these different seasons. There’re the sovereign beginnings. That means that God puts you into the gender you’re in. You don’t want to change. It puts you into the ethnicity you have, puts you in a birth order you’ve got, put you in the time of history you were born, put you in the country of origin that you’re in.

In other words, your sovereign beginnings were already factored including your family dysfunctional or otherwise, somehow there’s a purpose in it and God has given you a grace that if you work with him, it’ll be a redemptive story. You’re an Esther. You don’t have a mom and dad.Well, that may qualify you for unique favor. It certainly did for Moses and it certainly did for Esther. So, God will even work your disadvantages together. The point is sovereign beginnings. You were born for this time and you’re exactly the person you’re supposed to be in terms of the raw material. Then we then we go to a spiritual development.

Now, something happens. You encounter Christ, you meet the Lord. You begin to discover you do things well, you don’t do things well, certain gifts, certain passions, certain proclivities. You begin to have this spiritual development or you could say it’s gift discovery and development and you begin to realize, well, I’m called to do this. I’m called to this. I like doing this. I could sing. I could do this. I could lead. I could administer. You find certain things you could do and you begin to move in that direction. And then you start experiencing which is of life development and life development happens you. You’re getting a job. You got kids. You get married. You have certain pressures and you’re really trying to get in the call of God. You’re finding out a lot of things are getting in the way of what you thought you were supposed to do. You’ve saw yourself doing this or doing that and then suddenly your parents maybe you got problems or the marriage has challenges. And what we found is that out of sovereign beginnings and then that spiritual discovery and development, your gifting and development, you go into life development, life maturing. And then out of life maturing comes this invitation of convergence and convergence is an interesting stage.

Convergence is when your gifts and talents and acquired skills from your whole life experience suddenly come together. And they come together in a unique way that engages up in an envelope here an assignment. God gives you an assignment that perfectly matches what you’re gifted and called to do and that gift calling and acquired skill, your passion, your personal history including your mistakes all weaved together to make you really a perfect candidate for the work and this would be called for the work. The ultimate work you’re called to do and when that ultimate work is then you, typically, the convergence period in the west is north of 50 years of age. So, if you’re younger, you don’t want to rush it. You don’t have to worry about it. People can make money on Wall Street earlier but they’re not in convergence. They’re still adolescence with money but 50 is roughly the time and north. So, 50, 60, 70. So, if you’re north of 50, if you’re 60 or 70, you’re actually in the convergence zone and so you can stay in convergence by reason of health until your physical body and capacity starts to wear out.

So, Pat Robertson was still running things at CBN over there into his late 80s and he could still walk on the show anytime he wanted to and about something because he was in the conversion zone from 50 years on. So, convergence kicks in 50+ is statistics we got. That’s when it starts but then you have legacy and legacy is really, you’re in the conversion zone and the next generation is coming off of you being mentored by you coming to you and you’re launching and starting things. You’re having your children and grandchildren at that time. Why? Because you’re a model of possibility. So, at this point, people will go, a pilgrimage to Oral Roberts to go talk to him. He wasn’t in ministry anymore but he was in legacy and it was significant. People would go to meet with the mentors in the legacy period. Does that make sense to you?

What I’m saying to you is there’s stages and phases for convergence. Convergence can happen to churches. Convergence can happen to nations. Joshua’s generation crossed over the Jordan. They were called to crossover at that particular time. Powerful thing. They went together in Convergence to go deal. Now, another generation missed convergence and a whole nation suffered because they missed the moment that God had for them. See, that can happen too. When the upper room took place, that was 120 saints. They’re all in one place at one time and one mind and one accord and God had a calendar appointment. Whoever made it there was in convergence with the divine appointment. They had a unique starting point and a unique experience. Azusa was a church that entered into convergence. Wales Welsh revival ever. So, you see there are churches. Isn’t it cool that you can be a church and I believe you’re called to be a church in convergence?

That’s what I believe and I believe that because I don’t talk to a lot of churches. I work with a lot of people. I’m happy to do so. I’ve got 65 families I work with. I’ll mentor. I’ll be with them shortly and they’re all, their net worth is 25–to–200 million and I I work with that because they’re gatekeepers of influence and the Lord said, “Work with people of influence”. Because we’ve got to get them activated like I’m tired of sorrows like that great word. I want to start seeing the body of Christ funding initiative but then the body of Christ has to have the initiatives worth funding.

Anyway, but this church is different and so I pray. I say, Lord, show me the churches that are what I call apostolic hubs. An apostolic hub, I’ll explain in a minute. It’s a church that has territorial capacity to deploy people at the different gates of influence where the gates of hell are located. It can hit education. It can hit arts. It can hit media. It can hit business. It can hit all these other areas because it’s anointed kind of to be able to go out That’s what an apostolic ministry is. Is to go into all the world. We used to look at that as all the world was nations and but the church is all over the world right now and the challenge with the church is it’s not going to all the systems. So, the church is isolated from government and then government shuts the church down. You don’t want that. You want to have Daniel in government. You want to have Joseph next to Pharaoh. So, churches, nations, and individuals can go into convergence. So, you kind of got this life maturing stage, spiritual gifts, development, sovereign beginnings, convergence happens then legacy. These are these stages.

Let’s take a look at verse for convergence in the life of the apostle Paul. Acts 13, verse 1. “Now, in the church that was at Antioch, there were certain prophets and teachers, Barnabas and Simeon were called Niger and Lucius, Cyrene and Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch and Saul. Interesting eclectic group, we have black, we have white. We have Greek, we have Jew. In this little mix, you’ve got the elites, and you’ve got the poor, and but they all were qualified by the Holy Ghost to be prophets and teachers in Antioch. Fascinating, look at the body of Christ. Now, “As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to me Barnabas and Saul for the work”. Which I’ve called them. Oh, this is interesting. Barnabas and Saul had been there for like how many years? Prophets and teachers, teaching and prophesying, educating, and equipping, establishing and building for years in church in the ministry doing what God called them to do and they still weren’t in the work they were supposed to do.

What does it tell you? It tells you that you’re in the will of God doing the work he calls you to do.Preparing for convergence. Convergence is when he separates you from the work, you’re doing to the work you are ultimately called to do. Everything you’re doing now is preparing you for what you’re ultimately called to do. This is important for you to know because when you hit this chapter in your life, you’re actually going to experience. You’ve been doing the work you’re called to do but now you’re being set apart for the work that God designed for you to do before you were born. This is the high calling of God and once you get into that, it starts to change things. Your identity starts to shift a little bit. Your authority begins to get redefined and a people group begins to emerge that is coming to you and you have authority with. You have peculiar influence with.

And I’m just telling you, these are the fingerprints with Bobby Clinton discovered and that I learned from him, what I gave to Bobby is he only focused on convergence in the church mountain because to him, man of God filled with the Holy Ghost for God‘s change agents. Yes, men and women of God filled with the holy ghost but they’re not only the 10% that are in full-time ministry, they’re the 90% that are in the 7 Mountains of influence and if we don’t teach the businessman that you’ve got a call of God and an assignment of God to go into convergence.How are they going to take over the business mountain if they don’t know that’s their assignment? And so young people, even then, it’s like all in the apocalyptic backdrop of everything going on, the end times, the antichrist, world economies crashing down all around.

How do we maintain buoyancy, optimism, and encouragement? We have to let them know that I don’t care what happens out there, God‘s assignment for them is like Caleb, give me my mountain. We have to put in them the realization that God‘s given them territory and if the system is collapsing, they get to rebuild and build it according to the way God wants to do it. But you give them vision to occupied till he comes, not be preoccupied with getting out. You give them a vision to occupied till he comes, not be preoccupied with an escape plan. So anyway, the churches can go into converters, nations and individuals. Here we have the work. Now, the apostle Paul and Barnabas are set apart for the work.

Now, here’s an interesting thing. After having fasted and prayed, they laid hands on them and sent them away. They sent them. They were the sent ones. Now, this is a curious thing. The church is sending the church. The church is sending the church. We got to get this straight. Because it’s going to be, how many of you know you’re going to have to expand your thinking to a new level when God moves? He’s going to always enlarge. Everything God does when it’s new builds upon what was already there. It’s not like all your doctrine gets screwed up. It’s like it’s the logical next step. When Azusa came along, a lot of people didn’t want to go with the Holy Ghost. Why? Because they were convinced water baptism and getting saved was it and they were suspicious about this new thing. But when God‘s doing something new, you ought to be asking the Lord what the Lord‘s doing to verify for you.

How do you know when Jesus is walking on the water, the apostles, the disciples had never seen Jesus walk on water? So, what did they do? Grown men scream because they thought it was a ghost. He had to talk to them and say, it’s me. It was his voice that helped them know. He’s showing up in a way he hasn’t showed up before. Whether it’s holy laughter, whether it’s healing, whether it’s anointing, whether it’s being filled with spirit speaking in tongues. The church has always been making its progress of a progressive revelation. The great scripture that says, Jesus says, “I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it”. I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. When does that happen? It happens when he challenges them with a question. Who do you say I am?

This is important, because he’s saying I’m going to build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it and he ties it into a question. Who am I right now? Up until then, a year and a half into the ministry. This will blow your mind. He hadn’t revealed to them he was the savior of their soul and the redeemer of their soul. He was a rabbi with the supernatural ministry and so he challenges them. They were his disciples. They were his followers, but they didn’t have a revelation. He was the savior yet. They knew he was somebody important. He said, who do you say that I am? Who do you say I am? And then Peter gets a revelation and it was a revelation because Jesus says to you, you didn’t come up with that on your own. You’re the Christ. You’re the son of the living God. It’s like, my God, you are. You are the Messiah. You are the Christ, the son of God. And Jesus says, very good Peter and you know you didn’t come up with that. Then he makes the comment. And you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church.

Now that one sentence has been has been a fascinating discussion in ecclesiology and salvation for years. The Catholics of course believe that Peter is the rock because you are Peter and on this rock. So, the Catholics have this pope come out of that. Peter was the first pope. Jesus even said he’s the rock that all the other rocks came after him. The evangelical say, no, no, no. It’s the rock of the revelation of who Jesus is. I am the cry son of the living God. Well, they’re right too but there’s another piece to that. That Jesus is having an ongoing conversation with his church and so when he wants to perform the church, what does he do? The rock speaks and the foundation of the church says to Martin Luther in 15, 15, 15, 16. The just shall live by their faith and then the rock speaks again and the rock is speaking in Wesley and Whitfield and it’s going outside the Anglican Church, Episcopal Church to go preach to God. The rock is speaking to William Carey and saying, I want missions to go to the world.

Well, in that point in time, God wants to raise up missionary. If what God wants to reach China, he’ll raise up people in China. William Carey said don’t work that way. We go. The Rock was speaking to William Seymour when it came to 1908 and this is a street and said, there’s more. Praying in the Holy Spirit speaking in tongues, but then the rock came in 1948 and said there’s laying on hands prophecy signs and wonders and healing. What I’m telling you is the church progresses off of a progressive revelation of who Jesus is now. Yes. You guys tracking with me? Yes. The church in America is stuck because it hasn’t embraced a progressive revelation. The Bible calls it being established in the present truth. Meaning, there is God‘s restoring right now. If you’re around in 1908, tongues was where the action was. It was where the controversy was. Azusa and Wales is where you want to go and then you want to go follow the fire. Wherever John G Lake went, it was signs, wonders, and tongues and people getting filled with spirit. You guys track with me so far?

1948, it’s William Brandon, it’s Laura Roberts, it’s Jack Co, it’s AA Allen. I’d want to be right there in those tent meetings watching the miracle anointing flow, the glory cloud. I’d be right smack dab in the middle of where God was at, because there’s a present thing God‘s doing. The Church in America needs a present truth. It needs an update of and where we’re willing brothers suggest to you what I believe those elements are because in these elements you’ll find your convergence. You’ll find your rendezvous with the divine calling of God. So, Jesus says, “Who do men say that I am?” I would ask you. Who do we say Jesus is? And here’s a bit of a challenge for us. Because we’re all believing that Jesus is the soon coming king. But here’s what he says. “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me”.

For some reason our eschatology and our training has conditioned us like Pavlovian Dogs to anticipate that everything will get worse and worse. The Antichrist has taken over. We’ll get out of here but we’ll get some soul saved before we go. Then we’re going to come back and Jesus is going to rule over the Earth or maybe a thousand years if that’s your theology or maybe just every little start there forever. Well, here’s the reality. He is already the King. “All authority in heaven and earth has been given unto me. Go therefore, make disciples of nations”. We’ve been conditioned to believe that the church’s role is to get people saved to go to heaven and then the rapture will come because the antichrist is taken over and everything is happening now is inevitable. It’s going to get worse and worse, but don’t worry because there’s going to be some revival and soul winning and then you’re going to get raptured and get the heck out of here. Nowhere is that actually what Jesus was saying. He said, you’re going to go make disciples of nations.

So, technically, your assignment is to disciple your nation. It’s not to just get them saved, it’s to actually go into all the world and make disciples of nations and because our forefathers did that, you had the United States of America. They literally penetrated in Permia. Harvard was established for the training of clergy. Princeton was established for the training of clergy. Do you understand? We had it right when we started. We took it for granted when we got it and we forgot it when it got easy.
