Lance: Welcome to Level 10 Living. I’m Lance Wallnau with Mercedes Sparks and Carl Wallnau, together your coaching team, your Level 10 Living panel. Level 10 Living is about the core criteria that we discovered over the course like 30 years of immersing in the field of peak performance psychology and peak performance practice and then integrating it back into the Bible. Because we end up with this, you end up with a whole lot of secular motivational seminar training and stuff and then Christians have to figure out what parts, right. What parts wrong and you got people that are all in the Bible and they’re actually frankly, they’re not getting their lives together because they’re never challenged in the practical ways that motivational athletes would be challenged or peak performance coaches would push your buttons because who in your world’s going to do that. 

So, you fuse the two together and you have this remarkable fun area of Level 10 Living. And when we’re talking earlier about passion and how your passion sometimes is a key to what you’re called to do. And sometimes it isn’t. Sometimes it’s a key to what you would love to do, but your skills are going to require you to do something a bit different. Because God gave you gifts, talents, and abilities that are going to take you in a different direction. And in that case, sometimes the cross is you have to let go of what you want to do to do what you’re called to do.Then you kind of start to develop a different passion and it’s the passion comes out of a more refined process that you go through in life.

Carl: Yeah, I’m glad that you mentioned that. One thing I do want to interject real fast is that some people actually get distracted from their highest ROI on life. Because they enter into flow and things that actually aren’t measuring up to their highest and best calling. So, people…

Mercedes: Carl, what does that mean? You use so many words that people may not know. ROI.

Carl: Return on investment.

Mercedes: Okay.

Carl: So, when I say flow, I’m talking about tapping into that sense of the zone. A lot of athletes have experienced this especially when working with a team where you and the team move as one. It actually feels like you know intentionally or unconsciously where other members of your team are going to be and so you pass the ball to where they’re going to be instead of where they are currently or you’re playing in a band. It’s like free form jazz. You’re able to bounce off each other’s idea in real time without having to think about it. So, that’s flow and that’s the zone that I’m referring to. So, sometimes people will enter into the zone or enter into a state of flow but it’s not doing the thing that they’re actually for. It’s not entering into flow in the realm that’s actually going to give them a return on investment for their time and the energy and all of that that goes into it.

So, sometimes, we can actually distract ourselves by entering into the sew zone or this zone that we’re in and we, it feels amazing. It feels like God is speaking to us. It feels like we’re doing exactly what we need to do, but we may have actually just missed the boat on what we’re actually showing up for. So, that happens sometimes and I just wanted to interject that before we get too far along in the segment.

Lance: Well, as I grew up, well, as you kids grew up and I was getting older, we would be comparing notes with in this field of performance psychology and business. And we said, these kids, they’re wasting their life away sitting on couches playing Donkey Kong and Mario, Juan, and Mario too. My kids were among them sitting there, we hear this music in the house and they’re playing these games. And for a series of years, we said, you watch, these kids are just wasting their lives away with these video games. Shut them down, parents. So, we found out that they were making a fortune utilizing those same skills and aptitudes in the field of designing games, creating games, entertainment. And a whole new generation of high-tech wizardry was coming out of the kids that sat on couches playing with the games. They found their passion was somehow interacting there and that led them into skills, talents, and abilities. They’re able to monetize later.

Carl: Not always but yeah.

Lance: Not always. Certainly, there are great many. Probably 98% of the kids that sat on couches and just played and vegetated with a game didn’t go on to make a living doing gaming.

Carl: Yeah, we’re talking about escapism earlier.

Lance: Yeah. Well, I’m just pointing out. There’s sometimes a passion. Rush Limbaugh, the great Rush Limbaugh. He started off by doing broadcasting and his fan where they had one speaker downstairs in the living room and he was like listening to the radio upstairs and he would narrate baseball games. I mean, as a kid, he wanted to broadcast what was going on to so other people wanted to listen to him interpret what’s going on. And he was tapping into some. I remember a lady named Judy Straw who was a mentor of mine in Carlson Learning, one of the early companies that led me into doing all this research. I would moonlight as a pastor by doing behavioral consulting for organizations, psychological, personality analysis and stuff like that and what I found was Judy told me one time.

She said, what I really do isn’t, she said, I trained people on how to do these instruments. But really when I was a kid, I used to love to build these little boats that would go across this pond we had. I’d build these little boats and my dad showed me how to do it. And she said, one day I realized that when I was a child, I was building a business vehicle to get across the lake that the metaphor was somehow connected to what I did as a child and you could find those connecting metaphors in everything you do somehow connects to everything you do.

Carl: Sounds like a…

Lance: What’s the saying, how you do?

Carl: Anything is how you do everything. It’s a gross over simplification but it’s a great talking point.

Lance: It’s a gross over simplification. Well, we’re into that on this program. Because we have 30 minutes to cover the most profound subjects. At times, we do reduce to the absurd.

Mercedes: I would say I agree with that. I think that goes a little bit into your convergence material but I like in my life I find that I cycle around like three different things. I cycle mainly around politics has always been a part of my life since I was little. I mean like listen to Rush in the car seat when the Bush Gore election recount was happening. I lived in Florida in the capital at the time. I would go after school. Like I’d leave my high school and go to the capitol and like pick it, and not pick it but whatever protest. So, it’s like I’ll circle there finance and then also technology and software development. So, like to your point these kids who gamed, my dad brought home a computer and was like, build a website. And I’m just like 13 HTML coding. I ended up being like the web master at my high school. Later on, I would cycle back into software design.

So, I would say to you I agree with really with what you’re saying. I end up feeling like sometimes in life the older you get. It’s like in a rowboat and you’re rowing backwards and you have like these buoys and you’re like, well, that was a marker and there’s a mark and as you’re rowing, itt tends to like get narrow and narrower. So anyways, I just want to throw that in there,because hopefully…

Lance: This is the best one is the Level 10 Living on YouTube. I want you to become the voice, the authentic voice. I want you to be the central actor in your own production and I want the production to be a revelation of who God made you to be. On page 21, we talk with Stephen Covey about listening to the confirming inner voice of your conscience. It tells you the right thing to do and where you are most needed. For instance, I that my conscience bothers me, Mercedes and that’s part of the reason why I feel compelled to constantly get involved with the battle over government issues. Because I see my conscience agitates me over the fundamental bullying of good people that are denied their opportunity to exist, the oxygen to be able to live in freedom because the left is becoming an uncontrollable bully in all 7-Mountains.

And my conscience convicts me that if no one else will speak, I must speak and if no one else will step forward, then, I feel like I’ve got to step forward and I get behind all. I get behind Charlie Kirk. I get behind Bannon. I get behind all but listen, there’s some, there’s certain Christians that need to step forward and I’ve had 40 years of being in ministry and in business and I feel with seven mountains is my mantle. I have to speak. My conscience compels me to speak but I’m Meeting a need and this is the cubby model we just came out of. Passion, what are you most passionate about? Talent, what are you best in the world at? Need. What need are you meeting? What problem are you solving?

And then conscience is there an aspect to this that God is convicting you and challenging you to champion and to lay your life down for. When you can come to the fusion of those four concentric of those Venn Diagram circles you have tapped into some very great power. It’s the power of your own authentic voice. No one else would be exactly like you in that area. And on page 21 we come into what this looks like. By the way, speaking of authentic voice, I can’t believe I did not put this into the last two broadcasts. How could I have not done that? We’re Levites basically. That’s our bloodline. If you want to get down to the 10% or 30% of who we are, it traces back to the Levites of old and they were the only group, the only tribe in Israel that actually didn’t know how to make a profit. The only Jews that didn’t make a except for Barnabas evidently, he had some land he sold.

Mercedes: Oh yeah.

Lance: Alright going to page 21 hearing the voice of God. Let’s begin by looking at our overall design because we just got done talking about those four factors that Covey talked about but I wanted to say something. It just seemed like this was the right part to put this in here.

Carl: Sure.

Lance: That the three parts of your body, soul, and spirit. This your tripart type being. One party your body connects with the five physical senses, the physical world. So, that’s how you can, you discern what’s in the environment, with your physical senses. With your soul, you connect with the realm of man. It’s the mind and in the mental realm, with the soul, this is how human beings connect. It’s by communication with one another. With the spirit, we connect with God. It’s through our spirit that God communicates with us. This is kind of important, because the spirit of God speaks to the human spirit. Romans 8:16 gives a great principle here. “Thus, spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God”.

Why am I talking about that? Because when it comes to conscience, Paul would say in Romans writing to that Roman church in chapter 9 verse 1, I’m telling you the truth. I’m not lying. The conscience, the human spirit and the conscience work together. Conscience is designed to discern ultimately what is right from wrong. So, you could say that with your spirit you discern. With your soul you evaluate and with your physical body you sense. And they’re mysterious how they work together. For instance, I knew a guy who was one of the top CD Richard Ellis sales guys who could sense when a deal was good to do and he’d say get a gut feeling. Do you ever have that term gut feeling? It’s as though he had an intelligence built into the heart that was in his inner midsection.

Carl: Yeah.

Lance: And so, you’re nodding at me like this makes sense to you.

Carl: Yeah, the lining of the stomach is markedly similar to the lining of the brain. So, to refer to your gut as your second brain is like an observed phenomenon in the scientific realm.

Lance: Really?

Carl: Yeah, so people who are gut led they get a gut check it’s actually like basically you do have a second brain that’s working at an unconscious level internally.

Lance: That’s pretty wild. We’ll have to look. Would you put some information like that?

Carl: No. No, I would.

Carl: You seem like you have something to say Mercedes.

Mercedes: I was just wondering. I always thought I was taught that the soul is really like the will. It’s like the mind and the emotions and your ability to choose and your spirit obviously is like your spirit man. Because we’re vessels, so you’re going to have a holy spirit or you’re going to have a different spirit inside of you and then your body is technically like your flesh. So, I was just wondering if that is what you were saying.

Lance: Absolutely, I concur with that definition that’s a classic Christian definition. That your soul is your mind your will and your emotions, but that your spirit has an aspect of thinking to it.

Mercedes: Oh yeah.

Lance: Because as I said, that’s where you’re discerning and your conscience works.

Mercedes: Yeah.

Lance: But it’s a more refined voice.

Mercedes: Yeah, and I think your flesh has an appetite which also has its own voice.

Lance: And your flesh has an appetite which frequently works on the soul to make you justify what you’re about to do.

Mercedes: But this is I just want to throw this in there and I know this is our political broadcast,but this is why I get really discerned when there’s rhetoric coming from Biden. It says, there’s a battle for the soul of America. The soul of America. You hear him say that all the time and I end up thinking about if that’s the definition of the soul. We really are at a crossroads where I think the church would be saying the same thing. I think we say the same thing which there is a battle for the soul of America. It’s the choice. America has a choice to go one way or go the other way. Are we going to move towards the things of the spirit or we going to move towards fleshly desired, like ungodly desires. So, every time I see that I feel like it’s a headline in my mind where it’s like there’s a battle for the soul of America. America has a choice right now in this hour. Anyways just throwing that in there.

Lance: I’m so with you. And America’s and when you talk about, they’re using the rhetoric of Christian persuasion. Which is so artful and so cunning. The battle for the heart of America. The battle for the soul of America. A battle for the future. Well, think about that. You’re right. They’re using that language. The soul is the mind, the will, and the emotions.

Carl: Okay, but if Biden is fighting for the mind of America, like I’m not going to cuss but we’re not in good place right now. Also, like if somebody was for instance good hardworking Christian person, we’ll use the term or the case of Phineas Gage one of the first studies in mental health in America. A guy was working on the railroad. Railroad blew up through a bar through his head and he was forever different. That was when we finally understood that like personality is actually in the brain. So, according to what you guys are saying, I have some questions on the terminology but his soul is augmented because his mind isn’t where it was?

Lance: Whose soul?

Carl: Phineas Gage. So, a good Christian individual will say, I don’t think he was before that, but he was like an upstanding member of society. Good Christian person has a mental issue. They have something happens maybe whatever, a stroke for instance and now, their brain is slightly different. Their soul is now different as a consequence of their brain being different?

Lance: No, but it does mean that the vehicle of the physical brain is separate from the soul in terms of the immortal soul. And one of the interesting points there is it’s kind of a grizzly story. What I was reading in the Philadelphia Choir, the story about a man who’s a Christian that had a brain tumor.

Carl: Yeah.

Lance: They took out a whole chunk of his brain. He was going to die.

Carl: Yeah, it’s [INAUDIBLE WORD 18:25].

Lance: But they basically he met with his family and had lucid communication and conversation with them. Much the shock of the medical community. The thought that if you remove that part of the brain, there should be a disruption of the faculties which just revealed that there’s another aspect to this that might be a little bit harder than science can map. Which is the soul indeed,maybe a spiritual phenomenon and the brain becomes the vehicle that is working through. In the same way that you have a living personality and soul, but your physical body ages. As your physical body ages, it puts an inhibition on the scope of what you could do and you ever meet an old person. I think your grandfather was like this, who even though they were frail and limited in their mobility, what they were on the inside, you could see them. They were still a kid. They were still a wild teenager driving fast in a car.

Carl: Oh yeah. Right eyed and bushy tail.

Lance: That’s right, but they’re old and feeble and their physicality was a, the casket is aging but the gem on the inside is eternal.

Carl: I mean, his engine was with grandfather. Your dad grandpa Carl. Yeah. His engine was like a V8 in like an old mobile. Like he was an old dude. He was 99 but I mean, he was sharp as a tack right till the end. So, like you can see that on my father.

Lance: He loved to go to Zumba class. Move himself like 6 inches this way, 6 inches that way. You know why? Because he love all those pretty young girls there, and all the young girls were in their 70s and 80.

Carl: Yeah.

Lance: That’s I’m sorry. That DNA is in you too buddy?

Carl: Thank you. #Lance.

Lance: What I want you to catch is that your spirit is where God will talk to you. The reason I’m saying that is because for a lot of you that are trying to discern what God wants you to do. You get mixed up. Have you heard people say, I don’t know is that me or is that the Lord? Is that you God or is that me?

Carl: I Heard that.

Lance: The reason why that happens is because his spirit bears witness with your spirit and your spirit sounds like you. So, it’s like an echo. Imagine God speaking to something and echoes off of it. It’s echoing off of your spirit. So, when God‘s talking you the still small voice of conscience is bouncing off of your sound into your thinking. So, boom. The ricochet. God‘s voice off your spirit into you and you’re hearing it as though it’s you talking. But if you’ve ever heard God at all you all have. If you’re a Christian, you heard God but you couldn’t be a Christian. You’ll find your conscience becomes one of the vehicles that God speaks to and testifies. “The spirit of self testifies with our spirit that we are children of God”. Paul says in Romans 8.

And the reason I put this in this manual is because God speaks to your spirit and your spirit is picking up on what the Holy Spirit saying. And sometimes you don’t know it’s God which is why it’s so important to have the word of God in your soul. Where you build up your mind and you build up an inventory of information with which to test the veracity, the accuracy, the alignment of whether or not this is the way that God thinks. Because God‘s thinking is in this Bible in 66books. It reveals the patterns of how he thinks. And you could develop a discerning of whether something’s congruent with the nature and personality and disposition of God, because God‘s congruent from Genesis to Revelation. Intuition, conscience. I’m talking about those two now. How is intuition different than conscience? Carl, can you read to me what it says there in that 4thparagraph on page 22?

Carl: Sure. The 4th one that starts with much guidance?

Lance: Intuition describes.

Carl: I got you. Intuition describes the ability to know something beyond the realm of reason or circumstance. Our spirit can know what our soul cannot. This is intuition. The direct sense of or perception in our spirit. Jesus’ spirit could perceive the thoughts in the hearts of others. Likewise, Paul perceived that the ship he was on would be destroyed in a storm. Men, I perceived that this voyage will end with disaster and much loss not only of the cargo and ship but also our lives. God bless you, Mercedes.

Lance: Do you know why we say God bless you by the way?

Carl: Because people thought that demons were entering the Bible.

Lance: Yeah, back in the reformation days, they thought that was a demonly and which tells you, they had far more revelation about how frequently demons were coming and going and then we’ve got, let’s not what?

Mercedes: Well, surprise.

Lance: Surprise. Yeah, exactly. Jesus spoke of intuition by saying that the Holy Spirit of Goddwells in his followers which show us things to come. Intuition is when you have a sense of knowing something beyond the realm of reason or circumstance. It’s the brain and the gut that you were talking about Carl. It’s another form of intelligence, but it’s based on a sense of what I’m talking about here is when he the spirit of truth comes, spirit of truth notice. Spirit of truth,that kind of speaks about conscience and knowledge and spirit. Because the spirit of truth comes, he will lead you into all truth and he will show things to come. I never quite caught the connections. I said it now. That if you really want to be accurately led by the spirit into your prophetic future, you should be accurately responsive to the truth when God shows it to you. Whoa. That’s a spicy meatball.

Carl: What a responsibility we have.

Lance: Yeah. If you want to be accurately prophetically led into the future God has for you. You have to respond to the truth that he gives to you. Man. So, in our last minute and 46 seconds I pray for everyone listening to the sound of my voice that you are going to begin to hear your conscience and honor the voice of the spirit. Don’t be afraid of what God says to you. Because God is on your side. God is for you not against you. He wants to cause you to intuitively make wise choices in the next day and the next week. And if you have a Problem hearing, this is where relationships come in. He’ll speak to you through a son, a daughter, through a spouse, through a friend, through a parent, through a pastor. God has many ways to speak but if your spirit is sensitive, you won’t resist his voice when it shows up. I’m praying for you, each of you right now that you’re going to have an increased perception like Paul, you’ll perceive the future and you’ll hear the conscience and the voice of the spirit guide you on wise decision making on how to navigate.
