President Trump sat down with Sean Hannity on Tuesday to discuss the unmitigated disaster playing out before our eyes in Afghanistan.
“It’s good to be with you but it’s a terrible time for our country,” he began. “I don’t think in all of the years our country has ever been so humiliated.”
The 45th President said he had warned Mullah Bardar, the highest-ranking member of the Taliban, that he would essentially level his village if any Americans were harmed on his watch. “We will hit you with a force that no country has ever been hit with before,” he recalled.
Invoking the Bush family, Trump said going into the Middle East was “the worst decision in the history of our country.” He estimated that as many as 40,000 Americans are stranded in Kabul with no guarantee that they will be allowed to leave.
“Nobody has ever handled a withdrawal worse than Joe Biden,” Trump told Hannity. “This is the greatest embarrassment, I believe, in the history of our country.”
He explained how he would have handled it differently, saying he’d take the Americans and our allies out first. Secondly, remove billions of dollars of equipment. Thirdly, destroy “the forts.” Lastly, evacuate the military. “You don’t take the military out first, you take the military out last,” he said.
Trump said he considered energy independence and border security to be among his greatest achievements as president. “45” also discussed the growing threat posed by China, the ongoing border crisis, the Hunter Biden scandal, and the 2024 presidential election.
“It’s a very sad period of time for our country,” he lamented. “We better get our act together” before inflation and crime hit records, Trump warned.
When Hannity asked the former president about 2024 he replied, “So, because the campaign finance laws are extremely complicated and unbelievably stupid, I’m actually not allowed to answer that question.” He continued, “I’d love to answer it but let me put it this way, I think you’ll be very happy.”
