POTUS Defends Covington Students, Says Media Smeared Them
President Trump has tweeted twice in support of the Covington students who were falsely accused of harassing Native American activist Nathan Phillips after the march for life last weekend.
The students have been under constant attack since a heavily edited, one-minute video was uploaded to Twitter, which made it look as if the boys were taunting and harassing Phillips. Celebrities Patton Oswalt, Kathy Griffin, Alyssa Milano, and many others then waded into the debate online, provoking further outrage amongst their fans.
Phillips, apparently determined to make the situation worse for the students then made this statement to the media, which this writer did not hear a single corroborating piece of evidence for on the hour-plus of footage:
“While I was there singing, I heard them saying ‘Build that wall! Build that wall!’, you know… this is indigenous land! …We’re not supposed to have walls here, we never did—for millennium. Before anybody else came here we never had walls. We never had a prison. We always took care of our elders, we took care of our children. We always provided for them, you know. We taught them right from wrong. I wish I could see that energy of the young mass, the young men, put their energy into making this into a really great country.”
Film producer, Jack Morrissey of Beauty and The Beast fame, in a now-deleted tweet, suggested: “#MAGAkids go screaming, hats first, into the woodchipper” with a still from FARGO. If all of this wasn’t awful enough, these people seem to have forgotten something else.
Even if those young men had been guilty, they were still kids. Minors. Adults who should have known better should have kept their mouths shut and trusted that the situation would be dealt with. Of course, they didn’t, and now there is the genuine possibility that the families of the students will sue every media organization and celebrity who slandered their children.
President Trump having seen the disgraceful treatment of these young people tweeted two messages of support.
Looking like Nick Sandman & Covington Catholic students were treated unfairly with early judgements proving out to be false – smeared by media. Not good, but making big comeback! “New footage shows that media was wrong about teen’s encounter with Native American” @TuckerCarlson

Nick Sandmann and the students of Covington have become symbols of Fake News and how evil it can be. They have captivated the attention of the world, and I know they will use it for the good – maybe even to bring people together. It started off unpleasant, but can end in a dream!

Between this incident and the Buzzfeed news story that Mueller himself had to correct, is it any wonder that people have lost all faith in the mainstream media?
