NYC shooting suspect arrested

During the morning commute on April 12, 2022, a shooting took place on a northbound N train on the New York City Subway in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The shooter, who was later identified as Frank Robert James, was wearing a gas mask. Witnesses said he threw two smoke grenades onto the train and opened fire.
Twenty-nine people were injured, ten from direct gunfire; no known fatalities have occurred. Most of the passengers got off at the 36th Street station. Earlier today, 62-year-old Frank R. James was arrested as the suspect.

The shooting suspect was a prolific social media user who regularly uploaded lengthy, often racist diatribes to YouTube and Facebook. James addressed multiple topics from the state of race relations in the United States to the policies of New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
Numerous posts were shared across social media of James’s YouTube rants after news emerged of the shooting. Some rants included an emotional response to the newly appointed Supreme Court Justice, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.

YouTube has since removed the main account for James.
