Nikki Haley Launches Campaign With Pastor John Hagee Opening In Prayer

Nikki Haley, the former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. and Republican governor of South Carolina, made her first appearance as a 2024 Republican presidential candidate at an event with supporters in Charleston, SC.

In her opening remarks, she thanked her supporters, including Pastor John Hagee, saying, “Pastor Hagee, I still say I want to be you when I grow up.” Pastor Hagee opened the campaign with prayer.

During Haley’s speech, she covered why she was running for president, saying she wanted the Republican Party to look toward a “new generation” of leadership. She also talked about her previous time in public office and growing up in Bamberg, South Carolina.

Ambassador Haley was introduced by several supporters, including Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC). Following this event, she was scheduled to attend a number of campaign events in Iowa and New Hampshire, the first two states casting ballots for Republican presidential contenders in 2024.
