Multiply Your Business income!

Karen: You are called to be a money maker, not just a money manager. Do you see the difference? Over the last two centuries, about 90% of the world’s millionaires have been created by investing in real estate. Real estate produces more millionaires. The IRS has reported that 71% of all Americans declaring 1 million or more in their tax returns in the past 50 years invested in real estate. The most billionaires, they are in real estate or they have got business income. The two go together. So, I want to share a little bit with you about how you can multiply your income with your business. So, this is a principle of that orchard and I’ll give you just a little example of my home staging business. 

So, remember I told you when I was at the ministry, God called me to go into build a home staging business. I’ve never been a home stager. I had no training but I was like, you know what? I’ve got so much that doesn’t make sense right now. I may as well just go for it, right? God kind of gets you in that place and you’re thinking, you know what? I have nothing to lose. Fine. I’ll do this. Well, what I learned with that is not only did I build a business with it but it actually sustained me as a widow and using that orchard mentality, you can your business and build out multiple revenue streams from your business.

So let me just give you a quick example about how this works. So, in my home staging business I would go in. I’d stage at home and there was a lot of things the Lord showed me in that. But I would do the work and sometimes I would work all night and I would definitely get enough to make payments and bring in income. But I thought, wow, what else can I do with the time that I’m putting in this? And so, the Lord showed me with that, hey, you’re going in and you’re staging. If you do before and afters and if you start documenting what you’re doing, you can take the time that you’re working and build revenue streams through creating a book, creating training materials, doing conferences, So, one of the ways that we build an orchard in our business is what are you putting your hand to right now that you can leverage into multiple revenue streams.

I was just talking to Dave about this Levi got married about in the middle of May to Butch and Julianne Hartman’s daughter Carly which is really a blessing for us. And I told Dave, way back then, I did what I was doing. I was just obeying God way back then he put on my heart to do home staging and you know what? Yesterday, Carly is sending me pictures of a fourplex that they are working on for vacation properties in our investments in Cocoa Beach. So, I’m looking back at this time where I’m doing something crazy, not understanding it and today, because I did that, we’ve got our kids out there staging houses to bring in income. When we look at generational wealth, we definitely need to go out there and transform nations but if we don’t start with our families, how will we be able to transform nations? And we made a decision that we’re going to pursue real estate for generational wealth so we were not one of these statistics. A rabbi explained what was happening with why people were losing their wealth in the second and third generation. And what he said is it’s because they are not teaching their children and their grandchildren about the character value and the how to’s to build wealth. So, they’re going off the rails and what do we have today? We have talked to so many millionaires and billionaires whose kids are woke and have a completely different mindset than what their parents do.

When Levi went to school at Caris Bible College, I was going to tell you, my parents thought we were nuts. It didn’t make sense. Why wouldn’t you send your child to a traditional college? And today, I think you would agree with me that if we send our child to a traditional college, we are sending them into a war zone that they are most likely not equipped for. And so, in this with our family, we made the decision that we were going to pursue business together to transfer our knowledge to build wealth as a family and secure our legacy for generations. So, it’s very interesting doing a family business. How many of you have a family business? Yes, lots of fun dynamics. We each have our roles but we began investing down in a little town called McGregor and part of what we share with you in Wealth Builders, we give you all the details of how to start investing. But we got in this together, got everything set up and we started buying properties and then after that, we started buying in Cocoa Beach.

So, if you’ve watched Sweet Tea Hospitality, you’ve actually seen the progression of all of our properties. But we had a situation down in McGregor that I want to share with you because it’s a way that in this business, God is going to help you and bring into you in your family the act of having a relationship with him and building wealth. So, we had all of our ratios. We went down there. Levi is the guy that goes out and he finds these properties. He’s anointed to do that. I’m looking at them because they know them. He finds these properties that I can’t even believe we get them for the price that we do. It’s amazing. So, we’re down. We bought three properties and we’re on our fourth one and we did a flip down there. So, I the designer. I’m wanting to spend all this money on doing different things and Levi’s a money guy and he’s like, mom, no. You got towatch what you spend. So, I’m like, you know what? I’m going to go try over here. Dave, this is what I’d like to do. It’s like, go for it baby.

So, I had so much fun. So, we did this flip and we were creating just beauty just like it was in my sweet spot, right? And we had over kind of overdid it for the market, alright? We got ourselves in a position that we were actually the highest price house in the city and in the area and you know, all the comps were blown. Well, for a period of time, we rented out that house short term. We wanted to get past that time a year that was in the capital gains. You want to get out of the capital gains. I woke up morning and I said to Dave, I think we need to put that house on the market and he’s like, okay. This is kind of how we roll in our family. We wake up in the morning we kind of have an impression and then we think about it like, yo okay, let’s do it. And so, we decided we’re going to put that house on the market for 425 and that was way higher than anything that was in that market. Call up our real estate agent. We said, we want to put it on the market for 425. We felt that was the Lord told us to do and he’s like, well, he goes, I don’t know. That’s pretty high in the market and we’re like, well, that’s what we want to do. Put it on the market.

Well, within a few days, we actually got an offer and the offer was about $10,000 below what our asking price was and we’re like, well, that’s pretty good, right? We’re kind of stretching it and so we went ahead and we accepted the offer but there was a problem. The appraisal came in low. And not just a little bit low, it came in quite low. So then, we had a discussion and said, well, what should we do? And Dave’s like, you know what? Let’s sleep on it. I said, okay, let’s sleep on it. Went to bed that night, woke up the next morning and Dave looks at me and he says, I had a dream. I was like, well, what is it? That’s actually something we ask each other every morning. Any dreams? And he said, I had a dream that that appraisal dropped in front of me and the Lordsaid, it’s not right. It.

So, we knew at that time that we were not going to accept that price. Because we heard in and saw in a dream that that was not right. We have an edge in the marketplace and when we leverage that edge, I’m telling you, nothing is impossible. So, he went on to say, not only is that appraisal not right but the Lord told me that we are going to get a California cash buyer. So, I was like, okay. I like doing business like this, right? This is great. I can do all my fun designing. I’m getting bailed out here. So, we call our agent and we said, nope, we’re going to put it back on the market and we’re going to keep it at 425 and he’s like, I don’t know. We’re like, well, that’s what we feel like we’re supposed to do. So, within a couple days, we got a call from the real estate agent and he’s like, you’re not going to believe it. We’re like, oh, I think we’re going to believe it. He said, I’ve got an offer for 10,000 over the asking price and it is a cash buyer from California.

Break: Everybody is concerned about what’s happening to the economy. I mean it wouldn’t be too far conjecture to say that it’s almost as though America is experiencing a recession that looks like it could be heading into a depression. And I’m praying that Donald Trump’s prophecy that you’ll see a depression the likes of which you’ve never seen never happens. But you know the guy was uncannily accurate in so many things he said. Speaker 1: So, we closed on that and we’ve been using that money to continue to invest. Can I tell you that God just doesn’t call people, he calls families? As awesome as it was for me to grow up in a house where my parents were successful, wonderful, and in banking. It was a house for whatever reason that we were in competition with each other. We weren’t pulling together. Do you know what I mean by that? And I guess because I was the girl, I wasn’t taught how to build wealth. So, I saw my brother building wealth but I didn’t know how to build wealth. And we made that decision at that point that we were going to work with our family to build wealth to have an influence for generations. I wanna encourage that with you too because when we carry that out and we impart that into our children and our grandchildren, not only are we going to secure that legacy that God has called us to but we’re going to bring multiplication to the people of God that understand how to build wealth God‘s way.

Okay. So, I’m going to go on to the next one here. So that was just kind of a little bit on a purpose. But I want to encourage you with number two is know the times and the seasons. First Chronicles says this, “Of the tribe of Issachar, men who understand the times with knowledge of what Israel should do”. That is the tribe of Issachar and they had an anointing to not only under the times that they were living in but they understood what to do. And when we see tribes like that, when we see gifts like that, we know that we have all of that because we are complete in Jesus. And this is what it means. We are a gift, a reward, we bring value and increase and opportunity, you and I can drop in any environment and we are politically savvy. Understanding the times and what is going on and we know what to do. We have the resources of heaven that’s like tied to a mule which is an example of Issachar. The analogy is that you and I carry the resources of heaven. This is actually a picture of that house that I was just sharing with you.

There are seasons of preparation and we may not understand the purpose or the time but if we stay stuck in the past season or fixated on the future season, we will miss the season that we’re in. You are in a season for a reason and if we feel stuck or we feel like we can’t move through, lot of times is because we are not cooperating with the season, we’re in to be able to be promoted into the season God has for us next. So, if you feel stuck, I would encourage you, ask the question, Lord, what do you want me to get in this season? And help me to get unstuck so we can move on. It may look like you’re going backwards but when you feel like quitting, remember why you started. Don’t be weary and well doing for in due season you will reap.

Now, this is one of the areas that this is going to be like a whoa. This is Esther and this is something that I started to see that actually put a little bit of I don’t know if it’s fear of God is the right thing but sort of like wow, I’m being invited to be a part of something here. We know the story of Esther, Mordecai said to Esther, do not imagine that you and the king’s palace can escape any more than all the Jews. For if you remain silent at this time, liberation and rescue will arise from another place and you and your father’s house will perish since you did not help when you had the chance. You are here and you are born at a time that God called you to be here. The thing about this scripture is Esther was being invited into being a part of something that Godwas doing in that time and in that season. But notice, it says here that if she didn’t arise and do what she was called to do, someone else would come and they would take care of the Jews. So, when you are in a position in a time or season, it is not by accident but it’s time for us to look and be bold and say, okay, this is a tough decision but I’m going to move forward and, in this time, or season, it’s an invitation for you to rise up. But if we don’t do it, God‘s will come to pass but the opportunity is through us.

Okay, number three, give God a new wineskin. When you are at the place that you want something different. When you’re at the place that you are seeing this vision, this dream that you really want to come to reality but you’re not seeing progress, it’s time to look at getting a new wineskin. So, in Luke, it shares with us that no one puts a piece from a new garment on an old one otherwise a new one makes a tear. And it goes on to say that the new wineskin does not match the old and no one puts new wine into old wineskins or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled. For you and I to go into that next season, do you know God does not give us the wineskin? We give God the new wineskin and how do we do that? We do that through renewing our mind, gaining knowledge and understanding and ourself in a position that we can receive the new wine to go on to what he’s called us to do next.

You must be willing to leave what is familiar and comfortable. Just like in the pool of Bethesda, when the man was laying there for so many years and Jesus said, do you want to get healed? He thought the way that he would get healed would just to be rolled into the pool. But Jesus said, rise up and walk. God is not going to call you to do something that you can do by yourself. He wants to be part of your adventure and it involves risk. So, this part is encouraging you that you have to be willing to take a risk. There’s actually strong language in here where it’s the talents where the guy that actually chose to bury his talent. It says that is a terrible way to live. It is criminal to live cautiously like that. If you knew I was after the best, why did you do less than the least? So, one of the things for you and I to walk into what God has called us to do is no fear. And you say, but Karen, how can I do that? Don’t you see what’s going around? Don’t you see everything that is happening? Absolutely. But let me give you an example.

There is a city called Goshen in the Bible. It was in the middle of Egypt and it was where Joseph sent his family and in there, the Lord said that, there I will provide for you and sustain you so that you and your household and all that is yours can that would become impoverished. You won’t become impoverished because he’s saying I’m sending you there because there’s still five years of famine and it says, I’ll set you apart in the land of Goshen. I might be saying that wrong.In which my people dwell that no swarms or flies will harm you. Even though all around it, there were swarms and flies in all of the plagues.

Now, here’s the part that I want you to get. The Hebrew meaning of Goshen is to draw near. So, you and I in the midst of Egypt and in challenges with our businesses, with our real estate, we say, oh my gosh, I don’t want to get into that right now with everything that’s happening. No, this is the very time that you get into it. And you trust that as you draw near to God, he only has success for you. Amen? The times where people really flourish and you see this in biblical times is during times when it appears that nothing is going right. There were more millionaires created in the Great Depression than any other time on Earth. It did not look like that was the time, right? But now, when we look around, I want to ask you a question. If not now, when? That’s right. This is the time and God receives the glory. Become the person you need to be to do what God has called you to do. Become who you are called to be.

The next one is, take the limits off. Do you know, you and I often have something called the glass ceiling? It’s something that we keep hitting onto that is stopping us from going to that next level. I’ve had to discover glass ceilings many times in my life. One of the main things for me, the funniest story with the glass ceiling is, I hadn’t dated for 10 years personally and I was praying for God to bring me my husband and the right guy. David comes into my life and I don’t know. I don’t think so. And my son looked at me and he said, mom, I think you need to give Dave a chance. But I was like, well, that was different from my son. Well, anyway, I was still questioning it. So, I went out to a retreat at Bethel is actually a business retreat and Andy Mason out there said, okay, Karen, part of this retreat is you’re going to go to a Sozo. I’m like, ‘What? I don’t want to go to a Sozo. That sounds weird. I don’t need a Sozo.’ And he’s like, just go. You will, it’ll be really, you know, it’s not weird. You will enjoy this.’

So, I went into the Sozo and the lady asked, she said, ‘Okay, what are a couple things that you’re trying to make a decision on.’ I said, ‘Well, there’s this guy that I met. I don’t know if he’s the right person or not.’ And she started digging into some questions and what I learned is because of the trauma that I had gone through. I had built such a wall around me that let me tell you no one was getting through. So, the very thing that I was praying for, God had brought to me but because I had limits that I didn’t know about, I couldn’t receive it. So, we broke that off obviously but I want to tell you that when you step into what God has called you to do, you have to ask the question, where are my limits? Where are the areas that I’m stopping you God from doing what you want to do in my business that I don’t even know about?

There’s a story here that I’m going to share with you. When an elephant is young and small, his owner will chain him to a large tree. The young elephant will try to break free of the chain but because he’s so small and the tree is so large, he cannot. Over time, as elephant keeps trying to break free, he eventually learned that when he has a chain around his ankle, he cannot break free. He is constrained. Eventually, he just stops trying. This is why a grown 7-ton elephant chained to a small piece of wood lodged in the ground won’t try to break free even though he easily could. He is still under the impression that he cannot. But what if the elephant knew he could break free, would he? If the elephant decides to do something with his new found knowledge, it will change his trajectory forever. It removes the limitations and the shackles literally and figuratively. If he decides to act, he’ll never be the same. He’ll have overcome the very limitations he didn’t know he had. We have that opportunity this week. Amen?

One of the things I want to encourage you to do is to Ask God where you have limits that you are not seeing. Where are your glass ceilings? For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. If you have kept bumping up to the same problem. If you get so far in your business or in your finances or in your life and you keep capping out, I guarantee you this is your problem. There is something there. But it is written with no eye has man seen, nor ear heard, nor heart of man imagine what God has prepared for those who love him. And he is always going to call you to do something that is bigger than yourself. So, when we get rid of the limits, we open a pathway for us to move through.

Here’s just quick 6 areas, past experiences, fear of man, past sin, believing lies, pride from a different perspective in the fence. These are things that will hold you back. See yourself past, present, and future through the eyes of Jesus, a life of unlimited possibilities. He wants to us to see, understand, and experience his reality. Okay, now, for us to actually move through, we’re getting a foundation, we understand I’m going to remove limits. I know I’ve got a purpose. Now, what are we going to do to actually apply that to see that vision become reality in our life. When I was marketing director for Andrew Womack Ministries and at Wealth Builders now, we are growing significantly which I am super blessed with because we are filling a gap that God is Called us to bring people from yes, I hear and see my call to the how to so you’re seeing the results in front of you, okay? And in that, you have to gain knowledge and understanding.

There is a practical part that at some point you and I need to grab hold of. So, what does that look like? Most people are taught how to earn and to save money. Most people are not taught how to make money or how to live off their money. It’s a different way of thinking. Money will come to you at the capacity that you can handle it. When I work with businesses and ministries and they tell me about the big vision that they have, we’ve got a coaching program with Wealth Builders and we’ve got people in here that are in that program which is awesome. And the question that I have is okay, I see where you’re at. I see what you want to do. I see what you’re saying God has called you to do but if God brought you what you’re asking for today, tell me what would happen. I’d implode.

So, there is a part of understanding, yes, it’s great to be inspired and have this great dream out here but then there’s a time you need to step back and you need to create a plan that is actually going to implement it and bring it forward and that’s what we do at Wealth Builders. When I was at Andrew Womack Ministries when I first got there, we had conferences, we had all this stuff going on and what was happening is it was all in one person’s head. And so, I quickly saw that even though we wanted to grow and multiply which it has greatly if we didn’t get systems in place, we were going to have chaos and problems if we grew. So, that’s that practical part of taking that vision and putting steps to bring it to reality.

So, let’s talk what this looks like here. Proverbs 24 says this, “Through skillful and Godly wisdom is a house. A life, a home, a family is built by understanding it is established on the sound and good foundation and by knowledge shall its chambers of every area be filled with all pleasant and precious riches”. We like to hop to wisdom and wisdom’s good. But when we look at the scriptures, it’s knowledge and understanding first. Then wisdom comes in and we know how to apply the wisdom that God is giving us. First King says he described plant life. This is Solomon. This is him having knowledge. He’s the wisest man in the world. And then he gained great insight and he gained understanding. He received that measureless as the sand. And then, ittalks about wisdom. Since adult acts requires great strength sharpen the blade, that’s a value of wisdom and it helps you to succeed.

So, it is knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. You know, we went into real estate. We had to know some things about real estate. We’re excited. We’re called to go into real estate and we’re building an amazing business. But when you go in and you are excited about the dream, you quickly see that you don’t know what you don’t know. I actually think that God tricks us sometimes with that because we don’t know what we don’t know. We get into it and then we hit that distress level because we become consciously incompetent, right? And that is the time that we know we’ve got to get knowledge and understanding because we have to maintain the laws. We have to know what we’re doing and then that blessing of God comes and brings increase. Amen?

Alright. So, I’m just going to, we got just a minute and I want to just go through how to take action. So, we talked about the progression of building a foundation but can I tell you that your dream will never become reality until you start to take action and take steps toward bringing that dream to reality. We would have marketing meetings at the ministry and it was so funny. I had all these people in there that were just like idea poppers and it’s great. You want to have them in there but they were satisfied leaving those ideas on the table. It’s like, see ya. I did my job. Well, if you don’t have people and systems to actually implement, you will never see the results. If you want to have a real estate empire but you never learn enough to actually sign your first contract, are you going to have a real estate empire? If God‘s put on you a dream that you’re going to reach the world and have a multi-billion-dollar business but you can’t even get your LLC filed. Are you going to be a steward of that dream that God‘s given you? No. And sometimes we get so overwhelmed with it that we don’t take that first step but take it step by step and you will see it become reality. A year from now, you will wish you had started today. Jacob understood the blessing itself would not produce. But God will bless the work of your hands.

I’m going to show you the pattern that Jesus gave us to start to step into this. Luke 6:47 and 48. “Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and acts on them. I will show you who me is like. He is like a man building a house who dug deep laid a foundation and when the flood occurred, the torrent burst against the house and could not shake it because it had been well built”. That’s where we want to go, right? Here’s the process, come to me, relationship, hear my word, ideas, truth, and wisdom and then act, step out in faith. It looks like this. I love this diagram. Dave put this together. When you are pursuing your business. And maybe you have a business and you want it to go to a higher level. The communication is you get an idea. And often times it’s just in your natural thinking. So don’t over spiritualize it. Then when you get that idea, you act on it. Just like what I was sharing with you know our real estate in the home statement. Okay, this is what you want to do. We’re going to act upon it and that means you take a step forward in trust. And then the capabilities show up.

Lot of times our problem is we want all the capabilities to show up so it doesn’t require faith. Right? So, then we’re like okay then I’ll go forward. But when it’s a God idea, it is going to require faith. So, you’ve got your God idea. God is there at work with you. And as you’re headed towards that destiny and your purpose by saying yes to that assignment. This is what shows up for you. You can back God‘s glory, his favor, his power, authority, wisdom, divine appointments, open doors, grace, anointing, passion, and pruning. It’s like, why do we have to have pruning? To make it grow more. But notice it’s I heard you Lord. I’m going to step out in trust and believe. I’m going to invite you into the process and then we know that our destiny because we’re moving towards that is going to include all those elements to show up to help us fulfill what God called us to do.
