Tucker Carlson was abruptly let go from the Fox News on Monday, shocking conservatives and political analysts in the biggest shakeup of the network since Bill O’Reilly’s departure.
The company released the following tepid statement amid the news: “Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”
This must have come as a surprise to the Fox News host, since he told his audience on Friday that he would return Monday.
Former Fox News breadwinner Bill O’Reilly chimed in on his independent broadcast on Monday saying, “This is bad for Fox News. You have a slide in television ratings, including Fox, the last six months. That slide will now be on steroids when the 8 o’clock hour collapses on Fox, which it will, because Tucker Carlson was driving that train.”
President Trump also reacted to the news in an interview with Newsmax saying, “Well, I’m shocked. I’m surprised. He’s a very good person and a very good man, and very talented as you know. And he had very high ratings.”
“I think Tucker’s been terrific,” Trump added. “He’s been- especially over the last year or so-he’s been terrific to me.”
Fox News host Brian Kilmeade also commented on Fox News Tonight saying, “As you probably have heard, Fox News and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. I wish Tucker the best. I’m great friends with Tucker and always will be.”
Many analysts are speculating as to how the Tucker firing may be related to the widely-reported $750+ million settlement Fox just reached with Dominion.
Carlson’s recent speech at The Heritage Foundation has resurfaced amid the controversy and has many asking the question: Is this the real reason Fox News Turned on Tucker Carlson?
