On March 9th, investigative journalist Matt Taibbi gave testimony before the House Judiciary Committee regarding Twitter’s illegal collusion with the Biden administration to censor Americans. Taibbi and others posted what is now known as the #TwitterFiles. Social media Twitter owner Elon Musk released the sensitive information to journalists, including Tabbi, exposing the federal government’s role in social media and censorship.
What has since come to light is an ill-timed occurrence the same day Taibbi and another journalist, Michael Shellenberger, were testifying before Congress on the weaponization of the federal government. An IRS agent unexpectedly visited Taibbi’s home on the alleged premise over his 2018 and 2021 tax filings and a story of concern over possible identity theft. Currently, Taibbi’s only comment on his Twitter account concerning the matter was to say he was not worried but felt it essential to make the Committee and Jim Jordan aware of the situation.
On Monday, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan sent a letter to IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen requesting an explanation why journalist Matt Taibbi received the unannounced home visit from the IRS agent.
