IRS AI personal bank accounts invasion of privacy unconstitutional practices

James O’Keefe released a third installment today from OMG (O’Keefe Media Group), exposing disturbing practices used by the IRS.
In the video, an undercover citizen journalist who is a part of OMG’s American Swiper Program speaks with Alex Mena, an IRS agent who works in the Criminal Investigation Unit. During the interview, Mena is asked how the IRS determines who to go after and is told that it uses AI (Artificial Intelligence) to target “potential abusers” and can look at bank statements and access companies worldwide. When asked by the undercover agent if this was constitutional, Mena laughed and said he doubted it.
Also shocking was his claim that the IRS has access to everyone’s personal bank accounts nationwide. Mena additionally clarified that warrants are not needed when looking into personal bank accounts.
While the bulk of the IRS cases still come from people snitching out others, and AI usage is relatively new to them, the IRS agent shared the program is working well, stating that in 6 months, it has helped to capture approximately 500 million dollars. He also revealed that “The IRS, because it’s a federal agency, we are right under the Congress and the President. The States really [don’t] have a say in what we do.” He also agrees that it’s “AI whether we want it or not. This program isn’t even overseen by the IRS, but instead, the US Department of Justice.”
