In an interesting announcement made just today by the EPA, it seems a potential showdown with California who has enjoyed a “waiver” from the federal authority under the “Clean Air Act”, might be coming. The EPA is reconsidering this waiver and will make a future announcement concerning this.

The EPA criticized the Obama administration for setting that standard after a review that lasted two months, immediately after Donald Trump won the presidential election in 2016. In a statement, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt said his agency under the previous administration “made assumptions about the standards that didn’t comport with reality and set the standards too high.”
