Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia, has reinstated facial covering requirements for students and faculty. Classes at the college began just last week, but it has been stated that this is temporary and will only be necessary for the first fourteen days. The college will also not allow parties or large student gatherings on campus during this time. The announcement was made despite no known reports of COVID-19 cases.

According to Atlanta News First, “School administration explained the changes were because of reports of positive cases within the Atlanta University Center Consortium. The system consists of Morehouse, Clark Atlanta, and Spelman colleges.”

Morris Brown College does have a vaccine requirement in place for students with religious and medical exemptions allowed. Other preventive measures include temperature checks upon campus arrival, social distancing, and contact tracing.

While Morris Brown College is a small private school, they are the first to reinstate the mask mandate. It is unknown at this time whether other educational institutions will follow the same precautions.
