CNN CEO Jeff Zuck resigns

Today, CNN’s President and Worldwide CEO, Jeff Zucker, in a surprise announcement, resigned.
CNN’s Brian Stelter shared Zucker’s statement, “As part of the investigation into Chris Cuomo’s tenure at CNN, I was asked about a consensual relationship with my closest colleague, someone I have worked with for more than 20 years. While Zucker’s statement did not name his colleague, the relationship was revealed on both CNN’s website as well as via social media. Stelter posted saying Zucker had been with Allison Gollust, the chief marketing officer for CNN. Gollust is remaining at CNN.

“Jeff and I have been close friends and professional partners for over 20 years,” Gollust said in a statement shared by CNN. “Recently, our relationship changed during COVID. I regret that we didn’t disclose it at the right time.”

CNN has yet, however, to discuss recent issues, which include the firing of Chris Cuomo, former producer Rick Saleeby solicitation of a minor, and Don Lemon, who was accused of sexual assault.

Cuomo was fired from CNN for his part in helping his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who crafted his defense during a sexual harassment scandal. The Associated Press reported that Cuomo was accused of sexual harassment.

Saleeby worked as a senior producer for Jake Tapper, nightly news anchor who has scarcely been silent about sex crimes in the past.

Tapper, however, has remained silent about Saleeby, the investigation into whom centers on the alleged solicitation of nude photographs of a 15-year-old.
