Breaking the Power of Leviathan: Spiritual Warfare

Lance: I want to talk about spiritual warfare in a way you’ve never heard it before. Have you ever thought about how the enemy destroys relationships in your life? It happens because there’s a thought that comes into your head and then a feeling comes over you. Maybe it’s resentment or suspicion or agitation and it could be that there’s something wrong with them, but there’s a spirit that gets on you and starts to focus on the thing that’s wrong with them and instead of praying for them or feeling sympathetic, you begin to build a story or worse yet, other people are doing it with you all the time. I’m talking about a spirit called Leviathan. I’m talking about a demonic strategy that literally causes feelings to come over you that are hostile and destructive to others in order to plant thoughts in your head the world doesn’t have a defense against it that’s why the world’s getting more toxic. But you can actually walk in the supernatural love of God discern that spirit and break its power when you do, you’ll have more influence yourself. You don’t want to miss this broadcast it’s particularly powerful right now.

Welcome to the Lance Wallnau Show. Let’s dive right in with the big question I’ve got for you. Have you ever had a flood of unexpected negative hostile thoughts towards somebody else? Now stop and think about this before you say, no, never me. I think everybody has this experience where suddenly you just have this someone comes over you. And what’s really weird is if someone else hears you in that state and you start talking and you’re going and they start buying into it. It’s almost like you create this toxic environment. Now the reason I’m bringing this up is because there are ways that the devil operates. You’ve got to understand. We’re living at a time when there’s massive division taking place. And the Bible says that Satan is the accuser of the brethren. I wish we had a little thing in our head that we go every time the devil was talking to you and you go, wait a second, that’s the devil, but it doesn’t work that way. It’s not like you know it’s the devil talking to you. You actually think it’s you talking to you then when you really get weird, you think it’s God talking to you and it’s the devil.

So, here’s what I’m saying. And it says, I’m just going to read you and I was looking at this product I’ve got called Leviathan. I taught this series years ago when I started dealing with a very unusual thing. I had friends of mine who they would be misunderstandings and ever had here had this experience where no matter what you say, what you’re saying is getting twisted out of context. Now, when a couple gets into certain space. If they don’t know about this spirit, they’ll think the other person’s their enemy because why are you saying that? You’re putting words in my mouth. I never said that and the emotions get higher and higher, you do you always are doing this. You’re always doing that. No, I’m not. Why are you? Can you hear that dialogue in your head? How many great relationships have been destroyed? Because we didn’t know how the accuser of the brethren works. The accuser puts a thought in your head about somebody and if you don’t discern that thing and hold it in advance and keep it from getting in. It can get into you so that every time you see that person, you’re thinking a certain negative thought. I know this is so true because I’ve had it happen to me where suddenly someone that I love or that I’ve trusted it’s like this thought comes over me. How come they’re your friend, why do they have to? And then it’s like wait a second, where’d that come from? If you’re with someone else who’s healthy they’ll go, what are you talking about. No, that’s not. They will challenge you, but if they’re not you can actually infect them with your virus, and then two of you.

So, when Jesus was brought before Pilate. The Bible says that there was one primary emotion that Pilate perceived. He didn’t quite know who Jesus was. He suspected he was royalty. He suspected that he was innocent. He suspected there was some kind of a majesty about him and he was inquisitive about tell me about your kingdom. Where are you from? He saw something having been a student of Roman emperors. He could see royalty, even draped in a carpenter’s garb. But he did observe this. It was for envy that they delivered him up. Envy. Envy is a spirit. And here’s the thing about envy. Envy is what’s working in going to get a little political here. Envy is what’s working in academia and in Marxism. If you listen to Jordan Peterson and you listen to these guys that really know their stuff, the professors. They’ll say that there’s this hatred that is in certain secure professorial class that feel envious that they don’t have more than they’ve got and envy is when you compare yourself to someone else and they have something you could have had but you didn’t attain.

See, I don’t envy an Olympic Decathlon winner because I don’t see myself as an Olympian competing, but I could be envious of a preacher. I could be envious of someone on in media because you are always envious of someone who is doing something that you think you could possibly attain to if you were able to do it differently. So, envy and jealousy are very similar and I’m going to tell you right now that envy was what was in the Pharisees. Do you know how many, I remember, when I was at university. I went to Oral Roberts University for a master’s degree. I was in really cool class with these. We were all in our 40s at the time. I think our late 30s. What they did was they recruited those of us that were practitioners in business and in ministry or in media. And they came to us and said, you guys never got your master’s degrees. We really think that you should have a master’s degree. We’re going to adapt a curriculum so that you could fly in for weeks at a time and pull it off. Because with a master’s degree, you could write curriculum for universities and colleges etcetera and they sold us the idea.

I had some friends of mine that were going to so I went, no, that’s the background story as to how come. I’m in my 30s, late 30s or mid-30s, doing a master’s degree. Joel Ostein pops on the scene and I’m around these, I won’t even mention who they are. But it’s successful ministry people. Some of them are performing artists one of them flew in in a helicopter, because he was doing concerts all over the country. And when Joel Ostein started popping, I heard the strangest criticism, well, he doesn’t really preach. You ever hear what he preaches? That’s not the gospel well Joel Ostein. Yeah, you ever seen, do you see him on Larry King? And they all picking a part Joel Ostein. Then, I noticed it happened to Joseph Prince also. When Joseph Prince came around, all the preachers, yeah, Joseph, you’ve said a thing on this, a thing on that, he teaches us. And I caught it. I caught it.

Envy flows in the religious community when preachers are jealous of other people’s audiences.And for that reason, I exercise a remarkable constraint on purpose when it comes to speaking about people that are in my profession or close to it. Because I want to be careful that I’m not actually speaking out of the wrong spirit. I only want to speak the truth and speak it courageously and speak it without an agenda other than love which is the best interest of the world and the people that are out there in my world that I’m trying to protect and help enlighten. But I’m sharing this because that spirit of envy can get into your friends.

So, suppose you start to rise up and you start to attain something. They could start to shoot at you and you’ll discover something. That the moment that you rise above the pack you’re running with, the envy can get in them or the jealousy can get in them and they’ll start to discount your success and try to bring you down. And that’s one of the reasons why it sounds unusual. But even with couples, there are couples that actually have professions and they become a little bit even jealous and competitive with each other. I know that might not be you, but it’s true. And so,while you’re doing this, what about me and you’re robbing me of what I could be doing?

I once did a conference with a group of chiropractors and doctors and all the wives were with the baby carriages in the back of the room. I remember this and all the men were there and I prayed before I went to this conference. The Lord told me to talk to them about something as I recall, it had to do with being able to retain their relationship for the long haul. Many of them were Christians and I talked to them about this. I said, you realize that a lot of the women could have pursued their own career, because a lot of these couples been in chiropractic school. But when they got married, the wife gets pregnant, they want to have children. So, she has to put her career on hold. See what talking about? And she’s raising and bouncing the babies in the back of the room. While the guys are all up there in the front building their business, and there’s a little bit of I ego in this. Because they’re kind of like semi-celebrity authorities on health and they’re doing media and their guys are on the stage and they’re like the icons of their profession and the women are in the back with these babies, and I realized something.

There was a growing potential resentment between the women and the men. Because the men were actualized doing what they love to do and the women were in a sense on another track and I noticed something and I predicted it. I said, what will happen as the children grow up, the woman is going to expect the husband to be able to draw back a bit or be resourcing and helping the wife in what she wants to do? And if the husband continues on in his own self-absorbed path and the woman, and doesn’t meet the woman and reconnect or shall we say calibrate with the wife as she’s aging, getting older. There could be a disconnect that will happen and she will resent the fact that she gave the best use of her life to the guy and the guy took, in a sense took advantage of that and didn’t reciprocate. So, you have to have this kind of like thing where every 5 years or so in a relationship, you recalibrate and make sure that you’re both updated in your commitment to each other, your commitment to what each other’s called to do and your commitment to support each other.

This Spirit of Leviathan tears relationships apart by insinuating in your head suspicion regarding the motives of other people. Insinuate, that’s what the accuser does and so what’ll happen is there’ll be moments when your mind is flooded with hostile, hateful, accusing thoughts towards others. And what’s happening is you’re getting this toxic and then it’ll go away. If you stop and observe and go, what was that? It hides from you. That’s where the Bible talks about. That’s why I have this on the cover. I have this like alligator-looking creature, because Leviathan in Isaiah is a spirit described as a creature of the Nile. So, imagine it’s underwater, right? And then on occasion you can see the thing come up like that and there’s eyes are popping up and then it goes back under the water. Just about the time when you start to realize hey that’s not how I think. Where’s that coming from? It goes away. It’s like the spirit hides on you. It wants to sneak up and overtake your thinking when you’re not discerning it. This is why it’s so important that we have relationships where we’re willing to confess our false to one if you have a breach with one another, you go back and you reconnect, you recalibrate constantly in order to make sure the enemy has no space to work.

So, let me just talk to you about this this twisting spirit. I perceive that in America right now and for any place where this broadcast is on. There is a whole new level of Leviathan coming down, a principality that twists communication. The twisting serpent is called in Isaiah. The twisting serpent. How does that twisting serpent work? How does it actually work? I want you to go to Psalm 56:5 in the Bible. Listen to what David says. This sounds so sad. This is exactly what media does every day. “All day they twist my words; All their thoughts are against me for evil. They gather together, they hide, they mark my steps when they lie and wait for my life. Shall they escape my iniquity? And anger cast down the peoples, O God”.

All day long, they twist my words. Leviathan is referred to as that twisting serpent in Isaiah and here’s how the crocodile or the alligator devours its prey. It doesn’t have a jaw that can actually go back and forth like this. It can only clamp down. Like you and I, you can lower jaw right so you have the ability to rotate it. With these creatures they can only clamp. So, in order for them to devour their prey what you see them doing, you’ll see this like in a movie like, I guess the crocodiles are in the Nile. They land on a limb of an antelope and then they spin and you see the surge of water bubbling, bubbling, bubbling and it refers as bubbling waters, like even in Job and in Isaiah. Because what the spirit is doing or what those crocodiles do it is it latches onto a limb and then it throws all its muscle into spinning in order to do what? Twist and dismember the limb.

Now I want you to think about how many relationships in your life have been dismembered by the spirit. Because if God put you together with somebody, I can guarantee the devil’s going to try to tear it apart. If God unites you with someone. If the Lord put you together with a relationship, then the anointing is strengthened by the joints and bands and ligaments. So, think about this. Like a joint band and ligament. The Bible says the body of Christ is put together. So,the place where the dismembering will happen will be at the joint or the band or the ligament. It’ll be like at the kneecap or at the arm of the socket. And the very point where it connects together and God has put a relationship in your that has anointing, teaching, revelation, intersession, money, finance. At that point, the devil will come in and he’ll flood the zone with hostile speculation and twist.

Now, you’ll say something. You’ll just make a random comment. I’ve had it happen to me where I’ll say something like, people are always sending me books to endorse and I don’t even know who these people are. They have no relationship with me. They just want me to I guess they went to a seminar and they said find an influencer and get them to promote your book or whatever and I was just saying, I got a pile of these book. I can’t possibly read them. So, here’s a clue unless you’re part of our army, unless you’re part of our partners, unless you’re part of our Motta. We’ve got like a hundred thousand great people out there. You’re on the database. Don’t just hit me out of nowhere and expect me to be you know, broadcasting an interview and you’re promoting product. How about having a relationship? I said that, and it just happened that somebody sent me a book that week who I had a relationship with and they thought I was talking about them.They said that, they pushed themselves past the discomfort and said, ‘I’m sorry, I sent you the book.’ I go, no, actually the husband. ‘Husband said, ‘My wife sent you the book and she was really worried that you were offended. Because you talked about it on a podcast. I said, ‘Well, talk about her. I know her, I’m talking, she didn’t hear that part that I’m talking about people I don’t know that want to use my platform to promote themselves and have never had a reciprocal relationship with me at all, where they were even interested in me.’

So, I said, no and I went out of my way than to connect and I actually had to go make sure I was recalibrating the relationship. Because the enemy came in and said, there you see. He’s talking about you and I guarantee, the twisted serpent will take even the most unintentional thing and this happens all the time and I’m sorry to say it’s the woman and the person that goes to church. Well, the pastor didn’t shake my hand. Well, the pastor ignored me. Did you see that? Give me that looks to that look he gave you. Did you say and if you have one other person who’s paranoid, it’s the worst thing? Yeah, I know. That kind of looks kind of funny, didn’t I? I noticed that too. That’s it. Boom. Leviathan’s there. Dismember that relationship.

I’m telling you something, man. I’m hidden on this subject for a reason. You need that discerning the spirits to go off like a little alarm inside of you saying, hold it. How do I know this isn’t a thought that’s coming at me that it’s not from God and it’s not even discerning. It’s just suspicion. It could be and this is where you could be picking up on the envy, they’re projecting at you and you feel the rejection. Well, then you’ve got to respond even you got to respond like it in Jesus still. Joel Ostein, Joseph Prince anybody who pops up above the crowd will get the jealousy darts and the envy and they’ll be picked apart and criticize not a little bit of the division that’s in the body of Christ right now, is not motivated by the pursuit of truth as much as it is comparison and envy. Because here’s what happens. People that follow you also follow other people, so you got to be real careful that you don’t unconsciously yield to a spirit that is attacking competition when it’s not competition.

I read a sermon by Charles Grantis Infinity once and it really, this guy was brilliant at being able to produce conviction of sin and he talked about the verse, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in heaven”. He said, anytime you are criticizing another person and you’re not actually being led by the spirit to point out what you’re saying. You’re not building the kingdom. You’re dividing. And so, always check your motives in what is behind the separation. Because there’s a whole disunifying that happens when people are separating themselves because of comparison. Instead of realizing if they’re building the kingdom and I’m building the kingdom then I probably shouldn’t have any motivation that’s going to be competing because we’re both the same side doing the same thing. Now having said that, that makes it even more challenging because there is a place for being able to deal with error and there’s a lot of demonic activity that is not only dividing the church, but the Bible warns about false doctrine that comes in that separates people from the truth.

So now, here’s where it gets really tricky. You got to not only deal with that spirit of the Leviathan is trying to separate you from relationships you’ve got. You got to be able to stay in the love of God so that you don’t strike back and get into a bad spirit. You also have to be able to discern whether or not the ministries, the voices, and the influences that are talking to you are coming from the Holy Spirit. How do you do that? The number one thing you’re going to have to do is pray for the gift of discerning of spirits. This is like what one of the top gifts in the Bible that is near in the last days, because there’s so much conspiracy news. There’s so little trust in traditional news outlets. Everybody heaps up to themselves, heaps up to themselves, teachers and preachers according to their itching ears. Meaning, if they want to hear something, they’ll find someone that’ll feed what they want to hear.

That’s why Mario Murillo and I have been working so intentionally what we’re doing together because we’re trying to both give clarity to the people of God regarding what their focus really needs to be on in order to move into the revival and the awakening that is empowering based upon what the spirit of God is actually saying and doing. And as we’re focusing on that, of course we’re going to hit our own opposition. People are starting to already come after me and they’re coming after Mario and they’re hitting at us. I realize a lot of this is going to be because that spirit of Leviathan that will attack, and the weird part about that spirit is that it’s referred to as the multiple heads of Leviathan in the Bible. Which means that it comes from different angles. So, when you’re really under attack, it isn’t just one angle. I feel that’s why I pray so hard for people like Donald Trump in his battle.

I had a couple that came up to me in Ocala. I’m sorry if they’re watching this but I got to tell the story and they came up to me after the program sitting on the edge of the stage and we had like 4,000, 5,000 people there and probably more than that because it was different people coming and go. And we had like a thousand people got saved. 700 so got filled with the spirit. Healings are happening. It’s quite an amazing two and a half or three days but this couple came up to me and I’m going to tell you the truth. Leviathan already bit them. Now, here’s what happens. If you like somebody like they’re in Florida, right? They love Ron DeSantis. So, they go to me, ‘I have a question for you.’ I said, ‘Yeah.’ ‘You’ve got to get to know those things I can get to Donald Trump. You’ve got to go tell Donald Trump. Stop talking bad about Ron DeSantis. Ron DeSantis, when he’s talking bad about Ron DeSantis, he looks Ronda Simmons is a great governor, and you need to talk to him.’ I said, ‘Look, if you had as many people twisting everything you do in attacking you from every media outlet plus every legal outlet plus every corrupt outlet. If you were attacked from all the angles Donald Trump is and I’m not even sure how strong a believer the guys how good would you be doing right now. If all of a sudden, I start attacking you here how would you do if all you got in the car and your radio’s coming at you and after your kids and everything.’ I think Donald Trump is doing remarkably. You know what you got to do? Pray for Donald Trump. Pray that he is covered by the grace of God and the right voice of council, so he doesn’t let the injury of all of this assault and betrayal by the way. A lot of people that supported him and are turning against him. He’s got to deal with all that and he’s got to stay sweet and he’s got to say what you wanted to say. And after I got done saying that, they said, ‘You didn’t talk to Donald Trump and tell him, stop Tom Iran and says, they didn’t hear a thing I said.’ That’s what I knew it. There it is. That’s guarantee. That’s a Leviathan spirit because what Leviathan is in Job it says its coils are like scales of pride and when the scales are coming wrapping around you don’t listen to advice. You don’t even listen to input. I’ll listen to criticism. I’ll listen to input.

I’ll listen. I might not heed it because I might not agree with it but I’ll listen to it. But when you got those scales wrapped around your head, you can’t hear it. So, then I said this, I said, ‘You certainly first of all can agree. You need to pray for them, right?’ ‘Yes, but you need to talk it down.’ I said, ‘Let me hear how you pray.’ I threw it back at him. ‘Tell me how you pray.’ They couldn’t pray. They couldn’t pray and they revealed right then.

Let me tell you something. Even Jesus said, “Pray for your enemies”. So, here’s a rule. If you can’t pray for them, don’t say anything about them. If you can’t pray for them, don’t talk because they’re not your enemy. It’s the spirit working in them is deceiving them. You can be mad at what the devil’s doing but you can’t allow yourself to make it them because you can’t be against them. You are for humanity that is under the influence of the devil to break them free. So, I let him in a prayer. I let him in the prayer and I showed him how to pray and so it’s actually it’s so interesting that there’s two or three left-wing newscasters that took my prayer and put it on the air. They were so upset that I prayed for Donald Trump and they put the prayer there. It’s kind of weird. They put that that bother them or anything else but you’ve got to learn how to pray. That’s where “Breaking Controlling Spirits” comes in.

I want you to get this. “Breaking Controlling Spirits” is how to pray in the spirit, how to pray in the anointing, how to pray according to the prayers of heaven that God will put in your spirit. Those people don’t realize this but when you pray in an unknown tongue, your spirit is praying the perfect prayer. Your understanding is unfruitful but the Bible says that you can interpret what you’re praying. Pray for the gift of interpretation. So, that you can pray out in English what your spirit is praying out in the supernatural. Your tongue will pray the perfect prayer. Your gift will translate it and you’ll start praying.
