AOC Announces “Expanded Coalition” Calling for Ceasefire

The announcement made today by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was regarding a two-page resolution initially brought by 13 Democratic members of Congress last month. The so-called resolution urges the Biden administration to “immediately call for and facilitate de-escalation and a ceasefire to urgently end the current violence” as well as to “promptly send and facilitate the entry of humanitarian assistance into Gaza.”
Today, the expanded coalition, or as some have referred to them, The Hamas Caucus, is continuing to pressure the Biden Administration for a ceasefire from Israel. The group has also increased to 24 Democrats in Congress. Cortez posted a list of the supporters on her X account (formerly known as Twitter).

Last month, Rep. Rashida Tlaib was quoted saying, “We all know collective punishment of millions of Palestinians is a war crime. No one – no one – can deny that. The answer to war crimes can never be answered with more war crimes.” Tlaib was also censured recently for her usage (and later back-peddled what she meant) of the phrase “from the river to the sea.”
