Brazil Will Move Its Embassy To Jerusalem
Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro‘s son, Eduardo Bolsonaro, recently spoke with Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, saying Brazil is committed to moving their embassy to Jerusalem in 2020. The announcement made occurred during a meeting in Jerusalem where Bolsonaro Jr. spoke. Netanyahu spoke with Brazilian President Bolsonaro during the meeting by phone.
Previously there had been reports saying Brazil would not relocate its embassy due to opposition by some in the Brazilian government. Netanyahu stated that the opening of Brazil’s new trade office in Jerusalem was part of the “strengthening ties” between the two countries.
Netanyahu also stated his appreciation for President Bolsonaro’s stance of support of Israel in international arenas. President Bolsonaro’s policy changed when he said that Brazil stands with Israel and by the truth. Netanyahu declared Israel stands with Brazil because “we stand by the truth and we support Brazil in any way we can.”
President Bolsonaro’s son said, “Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu, we will fight terrorism together. If we want to prevent terrorist attacks, we must demonstrate strength. So sooner or later, we [Brazil] will declare Hezbollah a terrorist organization.”
