The Asbury Revival 2023 Is Bringing a New Spiritual Awakening

Lance: Welcome everybody to the Lance Wallnau Show. And what a great day to be alive right now. As we’re covering what is it? Day 10 of a revival that has been started in Asbury and is moving to different theaters and different places of activity. And I really want to say the power of what God is doing. Is going to become as we feed into it. The hope of our survival as a nation. And for that reason, I want to take a look at something interesting in these Bible studies or these news broadcasts whatever you want to call them. It’s how to look at what’s happening in the country. Through the lens of what’s happening in the spirit. Because we’re dealing with things are heating up to a desperate point. That’s why this outpouring in Asbury is so meaningful to me. 

My daughter, members of my family, daughter-in-law have all been on a fast. You’ve had number of churches in America. Did 20-day fast, 21–day fast, 40-day fast. It’s such a beautiful site. I traveled into a couple of in Tucson, San Diego, here in Dallas. Seeking God revival, looking for in fasting and prayer for God to do a work. How could God not respond to that cumulative cry for his intervention in the country. So, when reports came, Raspberry College in South of Lexington, Kentucky and I’ve been doing trips over to Kentucky at Colette Keith’s Church in Florence, a great revival man of God and was there twice and seeing something happening in the community and wanted to keep coming back and now we have this in Kentucky.

Colette had me go to the Cane Ridge Revival. Had Bill McGrain, my friend, drove me up there and I went up and looked at the historic Cain Ridge Revival which is two hours north of where this Asbury Revival is. Because it seems to be Kentucky is one of those places where God has dug a well right there in the kind of like bridge from the what is it south to the north and the east to the west. And there boom, the Lord has chosen to re–dig the well again. Now the 1970 the Kentucky Asbury Revival took place ironically at the same time that the Super Bowl was won by the Kansas City Chiefs. Now I’m not making a connection here, well yes, I am. Because it happened again Kansas City Chiefs win the Super Bowl Asbury in revival. I suppose it’s kind of like when Trump became president and I had predicted that Trump was God‘s candidate that he was the unlikely candidate but that he was the modern-day Cyrus who God was anointing from the outside of the church for the sake of the church.

Had I only pushed a little further, it would have been obvious to make this connection. That Cyrus’s fame was that he did something for Jerusalem that would restore its legitimacy on the map by rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem and telling the Jews they now have new real estate to call home. I should have looked at what Cyrus did and realized that Trump would do something with the capital of Israel and Jerusalem. Like legitimize it, like move our embassy there, like do something in Jerusalem, like Cyrus of all did. It was so obvious. When the Asbury Revival is going on you know I’m thinking well who’s going to win the Super Bowl. I don’t normally think about that as a prophetic thing, but it’s like Hank was saying the other day in Flashpoint. If Godcan talk through a whale to Jonah in symbolic language. If you can talk through a rooster to Peter and talk through a donkey to Balaam. I was thinking if he could talk through a plant like a gourd to Jonah again a whale and a plant. Then surely God could talk through a national event. Like a sporting event a Super Bowl. Even not causing things to happen but speaking in the symbolism of it.

I should have seen Kansas City was where the Asbury Revival, Kansas City won the Super Bowl as Asbury was winning a far greater battle. And so, it happened again. Now Bob Jones for those of you that are of charismatic persuasion, prophetic persuasion, those of you who don’t know about this just bear with me. There are some of these old-time folks, these prophets of extraordinary note. These are ones that aren’t like missing it hitting it, but people that have a singular history of hitting it. Hitting it in profound ways. Accurately predicting things. Bob Jones said at least 10 times to Rick Joyner and Mike Bickel and various others. I’ve heard him say it. That the Kansas City Chiefs were going to be a symbol of God uniting the apostolic leaders of the nation in unity in the movement of God. And that they would win like the Super Bowl and that would be a sign that the chiefs were coming together in unity. And indeed, if you believe that there’s such a thing as prophets. I don’t see why you can’t also embrace there’s apostles or apostolic ministries and not all.

I think sometimes we make the standard a little bit unrealistic. An apostle clearly and a Paul or a Peter look at them as a 5-star general. There are one-star generals. There are those of lesser extraordinary measure gifting or scope of authority, but they’re nonetheless apostles of their denomination or of a movement or of a network. There are prophets that are called them the major prophets and then even the Bible calls them the minor prophets. Haggai the great prophet of the scripture that says, I’m going to shake the heavens and the earth and all the nations. Man,the guy is 80 years old you never hear of him before or after he basically prophesied over two months and then he goes into oblivion. But he made it into the book. He made it into the best seller. He got a chapter. Minor Prophet. There are minor prophets and major prophets there are minor apostles and major apostles and I know a scholar could tell me, Lance, they’re not minor prophets because they were less authoritative.

I know. I’m talking to my audience here I’m putting language they understand that there’s different degrees of glory. It gets a little confusing at times. But I’m saying it because Bob Jones was a prophet and now the Kansas City Chiefs have won and now Asbury once again is in revival just like in 1970. It’s Valentine’s Day yesterday when I was getting this this update on Bob Jones and the prophecy in Kansas City and the coincidence of Asbury. And then I was reminded when did Bob Jones die the prophet even died on a unique day. Valentine’s Day,Valentine’s Day. Right in the sweet spot of the awakening that’s happening right after the Super Bowl prophecy of Bob Jones singularly is now fulfilled. Its Valentine’s Day was the day he died.

So, I think that it’s something which we ought to be thinking about in terms of, is this the big one? Well, listening to Roberts Laird today and listening to so many others that are heading down to Lexington. Larry Sparks was in our studio yesterday. I think he flew out there today. By the way, I’d like to get a good season tickets to this. I mean, I want to be able to go. I just want to be able to get in. Can somebody get me in? Man, I could be there with my cellphone in the parking lot but I could do that from here. I want to see if I can get in and just soak it up. I’m not going in to comment on it. I’m going in to experience it and so we come to the characteristics of the Asbury Revival as it’s flooding over into other campuses. Worship, rayer, intimacy and I’ve been in these revivals before. They weren’t long lasting and they weren’t famed but there waspockets of these kinds of moves you’ll find them in different places. They may last for three or four days or for a week.

But I can remember one period of time during the charismatic movement, during the 70s. When in the 80s actually, when I was, let’s say it would have been 70s. When Katheryn Khulman was ministering and Teen Challenge was starting and Dave Wilkerson and such and I can remember the winds of the spirit Derek Prince ministering full gospel businessman was just getting started.It was as though you could put your hands up in the air and you could feel the wind of Godmoving. It was a most powerful time and I pray that that same time is coming right now upon America in the midst the chaos. The destruction of all things. It’s not unlike the 70s when campus riots were taking place and presidents were being locked in their administrative buildings. As the radicals were taking over the campuses, as Marxism was marching boldly to take over American institutions. The Black Panthers were enraged like BLM with AR-15s. It was an interesting period of time. Many cases more volatile than today. Hard to believe. Because the institutions are more corrupt.

The media and government and arts is so depraved. They’re so weird and woke that they at least were had a semblance of normality back then. It was the chaos was on the streets of the campuses. Not in the boardrooms. But that was when the Asbury Revival broke out and the President of Asbury said, man, when I heard that something emergency was happening at the campus and I got a call. I thought maybe they were locking. Maybe the president then the guy left there in charge got locked into his office. But it was God moving on the campus. So, the moving of God is on the campus. Now I believe already one of the strange things that’s happening and I wanted to talk to you about this is my family is my friends is I’m getting links sent to me of prophets prophesying vociferously, forcefully, ardently, bombastically you could say. Declaring with all the intensity that is characteristic of a Pentecostal prophet, what God is doing. And I wonder if they’re actually hearing God. I don’t want to add to the controversies of Mario Murillo and various battles that have opened up along the questioning of what’s going on. People still don’t understand what’s happening with kind of the folding out among the prophets, the prophetic community.

So let me see if I can give you a preemptive view of new from a revival perspective. I believe that a lot of the prophets and the ministries that want to comment on this revival have not been touched by this revival yet. I think they think that what’s happening in Asbury is a fulfillment of what they’ve subjectively believed God was going to be doing all along. But you see there’s an element of hubris in that. Don’t you see? That it’s not coming from the charismatic community or the Pentecostal community. It’s coming from a Methodist Bible College. And the preeminent characteristics of it in its purity. The emblazoned words on the altar. Holiness unto the Lord. This is old school Methodist holiness. This is John Wesley Whitfield pure awakening stuff.

What I’m trying to say is this isn’t about your subjective experience, your vision, your dream, your touch from God, your falling down, your prophecy or your need to be there and do something demonstrative to help the move along. It’s about a deep penetrating solemn work in the conscience in the heart that is releasing strength and vitality and courage and boldness. But it’s coming out of discovering Jesus’, conviction of sin, relationships being restored, conscience being probed, pure worship, kind of like the Welsh revival. If you read the Azusa Street account of the actual revival, it has charactered a little bit of like the Welsh revival. It was happening at the same time and a little bit like this. In this sense, the presence of God is like present heavy and when you’re there, you don’t feel the need or the desire to be seen or heard. You don’t want to be on the platform when you’re in the presence of God like that. But you might feel that thumping in your chest, that conviction in your chest, that anxious knocking on the door of your heart telling you to get up and testify to something or deal with this idol or repent of the sin or acknowledge this repentance in the room. And then you try to resist. You don’t want to go up. You don’t want to be seen and heard and participate and shake and shake the meeting. You want to be hidden.Now that’s the kind of atmosphere where God is so strong in the presence of the room that it’s as though he’s Searching the hearts individually. Like a surgeon going in and doing a deep X-ray of the condition of the people in the room.

That is characteristic of the Charles Finney revivals. It’s characteristic of something we haven’t seen in our life. Let’s face it. The Toronto, Pensacola, Todd Bentley if you were in the Lakeland experience. They were all intimacy driven. They were demonstrations or demonstrative exhibitions and proclamations and bams of activity. This is a holiness revival and as such what I’m saying is the people that are already hitchhiking off of it already prophesying and ministering from it the links that and keep sending them to me. But the people that are talking about what God‘s doing are still operating off of what they were doing only with greater force and conviction and energy, crowd cheering, the pianist in the organ player pumping away, whoa. But it’s I would dare say until you’ve been touched by this move, you shouldn’t try to associate yourself with it as though you are that revival. And that’s a concern of mine. That’s how much I believe in Asbury. That’s how much I believe in what’s going on. I think that In Leviticus chapter 10, in chapter 9, there’s an interesting story. I got 9 minutes. Let’s see if I can land this plane and actually, I want to bring it into something Tucker Carlson said. Totally unrelated. You might think except it isn’t. It’s about qualified pilots versus inexperienced people trying to fly a revival.

So, anyway, Leviticus chapter 9, Aaron kills a bull and a ram and sacrifices peace offering as a bloody affair. He presents blood all over the altar, sprinkles it fat, burning, sizzling away, kidneys and liver attached, the breasts, fat on the breast of the altar that burned the fat on the altar. Aaron waved the wave offering before the Lord and the smoke and in the offering, Moses is commanded. Then Aaron lifted his hand verse 22 chapter 9 of Leviticus and blessed them. Came down from offering the sin offering, the burnt offering, the peace offerings and Moses and Aaron went into the Tabernacle of meeting and came out and they blessed the people. Then the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people. Imagine this the Shekinah glory. This flame of fire. This whatever it was and fire came out from before the Lord.

Now God who is a consuming fire, releases his fire and the burnt offering and the fat offering on the altar is consumed by a supernatural cloud of fire coming out of it, God himself took up the offering. And when all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces. That my friend is supernatural fire from God on the altar. Then the Bible says that Nadab and Abayu, the sons of Aaron each took his censor and put fire in it, put incense on it and offered profane fire before the Lord. Fire that he didn’t command. The sons of the ministry, it doesn’t say they were illegitimate it says that they were legitimate but they didn’t actually go to where the fire was. They simply grabbed hold of whatever fire was convenient and offered it. And so, the actual fire came out from the presence of the Lord and devoured them.

Imagine how shocking this would be. You’re going to do a sacred service and the fire that was supernatural yesterday just came and destroyed you. Wow. And Moses said to Aaron, this is what the Lord spoke. “Those who come near me, I must be regarded as holy by those who come near me. I must be God is holy before all the people. I must be glorified”. So, Aaron held his peace. Aaron didn’t complain. This is tough man. Because Aaron had to watch the sentencing of his two boys to execution by the fire of God for the way they mishandled the glory of God. And the Lordspoke to Aaron. Saying do not drink wine or intoxicating drink. You nor your sons with you. When you go into the Tabernacle of meeting lest you die. This should be a statue for all your generations. You’ve got to distinguish between what is holy and unholy. What is clean and unclean. You’ve got to be the ones that help my people discern between the authentic and the fake.

This is interesting because the commentary Jack Haveard has in my Bible is that the wrong sin was that they offered profane fire. Which is literally strange fire or foreign fire and it makes reference to some idolatrous worship. Apparently, they had taken fire of their senses from a place other than the altar fire which was the only legitimate place for the fire. The Jewish interpretation of this is that they were intoxicated and they had drunk a little bit too much and they were a little bit of tipsy. And instead of making the trip to the proper source, they just got fired from someplace else and thought it was okay, and God made an example of them. Therefore, don’t drink any intoxicating drink.

Now, wine is a funny metaphor in the Bible. The Bible talks about Jezebel and the nations drinking the wine of her fornication. Wine in the Bible is a mixture in Proverbs. It refers to doctrine. It refers to intoxicating theology. Theology or a spiritual message that you start to drink and it affects your judgement in your faculty. And before you know it, you’re so inebriated by the concoction and the cocktail you put together that you begin to move in the spirit but it’s not the Holy Spirit. You’re in another spirit and the actual spirit of God ends up having to withdraw from you or to judge you. So, hear what I’m saying and don’t read into what I’m saying, what I’m not saying. But there’s a lot of raw sentiment and emotion going on in the body of Christ around the subject of the prophetic and I’m going to tell you something. This Revival isn’t coming from the charismatic Pentecostal Prophetic Signs and Wonders Community. This isn’t the Toronto phenomenon is wonderful. I was on Randy Clark’s board. I loved it. This is not a charismatic move.

The moment, the charismatics and they’re already grabbing it. Start to run with the momentum of revival. There are so many undiscerning sheep. So many well-meaning sheep. So many, I’m telling you spiritually minded but not discerning the spirits. You that know what I’m talking about know what I’m talking about. Discerning the spirits is in short supply. That’s being able to have an ear that can try the word that can parse what is coming from a gift of an exhorter stepping into thus saith the Lord or an intercessor pulling on the winds of what they’re praying for an intercession and then turning it into a statement of thus saith the Lord. When in fact it’s really an intercessory prayer for a biblical desirable heaven on earth outcome being twisted in to God is saying he’s going to do this or that. It’s the difference between whether or not it is the word of the Lord or whether it’s a word of a person coming in the name of the Lord. Prophets run but God doesn’t always send them or put sneakers on them.

So, I say this is going to be an interesting period of time. In which the wise thing to do is to not think that you already are in a revival. That this is the revival that you’ve seen, spoken up, prophesied and that you’re automatically carrying it. I say unless God has dealt with you. The probability is you could be running with fire that didn’t come from the altar of this actual move.So, yesterday Larry Sparks was talking from Isaiah 6. And it was so interesting. Larry said, hey,the first thing that happens is Isaiah’s living in a period where they’re calling evil good and good evil. Where men are being called women, women being called men. The people are standing up for truth are being told they’re intolerant and then people that are intolerant are being told that they’re inclusive. Those who call evil good and good evil who put darkness for light and light for darkness. People have gone into captivity because they have no knowledge.

This is Isaiah chapter 5 and then because they rejected the law of the Lord and despise the Word of God, the anger of the Lord has aroused against the people and he stretches out his hand against them. The nation is teetering towards judgement and Isaiah, the prophet suddenly has a vision of God. “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne”. He sees the Lord and he hears the holy, holy, holy sweeping of the archangels of heaven around the throne. And as he’s caught up in the Holy Spirit atmosphere of conviction and revelation of his condition. He cries out oh my God I’m undone. The holiness of God has me undone. He has an encounter with the holy. And immediately he is convicted of his uncleanness. He says I’m unclean. I don’t have lips. I’m not authorized to say anything in this condition.

And then the Lord reaches out with a live call and touches his mouth and he’s cleansed. Out of the conviction comes the cleansing. And then the Lord says, “Who’s going to go?” Speak on our behalf. And now the prophet says, “I’ll serve. I’ll do what you want me to do if you want me to go”. And he’s commissioned. First is the encounter second the conviction, third, the cleansing, and fourth, the commissioning. Those four steps my friend, are the great awakeners God‘s raising up in this awakening. If you go in without any conviction, any sense of cleansing. You’re not commissioned with this fire; you may very well be running with your own fire and it might be strange fire.

We’ll find out. We’ll be covering this more closely. I’m going to have to wait till tomorrow to share with you these warning from Tucker on air trap and what’s happening in the travel world. I just run out of time here today but I’ll get it in tomorrow because I want to cover this. I want to get this broadcast done because I predicted two weeks ago when I saw four or five incidents of near disasters in the aviation. I said, it’s because they’re hiring woke incompetence. They’re not putting it’s like putting doctors in doing eye surgery based upon quotas for people groups rather than the most competent graduates of medical school and you’re going to see a lot of blind people. This is what the Democrats are doing. This is what woke produces. Insanity and societal collapse. But revival is rising up to meet the devil’s chaos. And I think we’re coming into a powerful moment of Elijah on Mount Carmel, facing off with the political prophets of Baal. And God‘s not leaving the political arena. He’s about to break apart and bust up Satan’s end game here in America. And it’s going to be out of the soft shoulders of Levites.

The convicted hearts of those that have no political ambition but simply our great awakeners with the truth. God‘s going to raise up some of the most disruptive reformers America’s ever seen. And I believe it starts with conviction and cleansing. And let’s talk about that again tomorrow. Because we got so much more to cover.
